I work in retail in the Greater Hartford area, and recently had the pleasure of ringing up Jerome Dyson. I wished him the best of luck in the offseason and told him I was rooting for him. He was very pleasant and gracious. He thanked me. Two weeks later, I had his mom as a customer and she was absolutely lovely. She lives in Colorado (originally from Maryland) and was visiting Jerome and her grandson. I've also had Ray Allen, Kevin Ollie, and Donny Marshall as customers and they've all been great. KO and DM live in my town. I'm assuming that Jerome got a place in the area. Anyway, just wanted to pass along what a pleasant experience meeting Jerome and his mother was, seeing how badly he gets bashed on here sometimes.

Very nice - thanks for posting it.

Hold on, let me get it out of the way: "SCREW JEROME!!!! He's the reason for every bad thing that's ever happened to UConn!!"

On a serious note, he was extremely nice the two times I've met him, too.

Jerome always seemed like a nice kid, he literally left his teeth on the court for us, how anyone can have bad feelings towards him is beyond me. Jerome has clearly been working his butt off and I hope he gets a contract from New Orleans or some other NBA team this upcoming season.

I agree. Big time warrior. I'll never forget those teeth;).

I seriously would love to know where you work. :P

Seriously that's awesome.

I'm just glad Jerome is out there proving me wrong (which I wanted BTW) and making a decent name for himself out there. I know I called him out a couple of times, but I will Jerome a helluva a lot of credit for being here the complete 4 years.

Agreed with all the positive comments on Jerome. Besides getting caught for smoking weed (which nobody cares about), everything he did "wrong" he did on the court, trying to win games. The guy played his butt off for us. He always seemed like a nice guy. And I've never heard anything come out of his mouth that made us look or feel bad.

Nobody ever accused Dyson of not playing hard or being aggressive. His issue was not being able to properly harness it on the basketball court. If you had a guy with Lamb's skill/touch and Jerome's assertiveness, my goodness what a player that would be.

i randomly ran into his cousin a few years ago in roanoke va. he struck up a conversation with me b/c of my uconn shirt and said his cousin plays for them.

Dyson was a great player but a poor teammate. At UConn, he needed to be the the first option. He didn't know how to fit in otherwise.

That doesn't mean he isn't a great person. It is just a opinion on his performance as a player.
