Jerome Dyson invited to Hornets training camp

The problem with the pajama and slipper posters in their parents basement crew is largely they never played the game except for maybe as a video game. They also don't have human relationships or conversations with people except for in cyber-World. They are unable to break down someone's game or appreciate that discussion since it's not part of the instructions to their NBA video game. Lacking any insight of their own - they post posts lacking meaningful content - instead they resort to emotion, fads or attacks on posters who actually want to discuss the game itself. When a player matures as Jerome has now they enjoy that type of conversation not the tell them how great they are crowd on twitter.

I just think he meant stop talking about your conversation with Jerome Dyson. It's a nice anecdote, don't get me wrong. But any time a thread pops up about him, it is a near certainty that there will be a post from you talking about that one time you had a conversation with him.

You seem to think that being a jock-sniffer of young men you have no professional reason to be around makes you the second coming of Hank Iba, but it actually makes you a major league creepster.

Here's a thought experiment: What would Jerome Dyson's most likely response have been had a friend of his seen the two of you talking and asked Jerome "who is that guy"?
(A) "That's my man. He's helping me take my game to the next level."
(B) "Just a cool guy I don't know really well, but he's always got super solid, actionable advice to make me a better player and person."
(C) "Some balloon knot I don't know talking bullsh_"

This post, man. It's great on so many levels. I'm not sure what's better - the fact that you sincerely believe Jerome's game has evolved based on conversations you've had with him, or that you equate "breaking down someone's game" with you lecturing him in person. FWIW what Cheif is saying really isn't wrong. I used to spend a lot of time with him post-uconn and never really saw him going to the gym besides pickup once a week. He always wanted to play in the nba though and it looks like he's starting to put in the work to do that. He's a very naturally gifted basketball player and athlete.

It is good someone else who actually knows him posted. I said the obvious and what he says now himself. Calhoun has also said publicly how he loves Jerome's on court effort and toughness but how he could improve his game prep - spending time in the gym and let's just say making good decisions off the court. As I said in my initial post Jerome now says he has made certain changes in his approach to the game. I accept him at his word on that. He will also need to prove he trusts teammates and is more receptive to coaching in terms of adjusting his game. I am pulling for him but he needs to prove he has made those changes on a daily basis. The bar for the last couple roster spots on an NBA roster is high in these areas.

that's not really the point, its pretty much common knowledge that Dyson didn't work on his game during his college years as much as he probably should have, there was an article where JC acknowledged this and compared the time Dyson put in to Ben Gordon. the issue people have with Chief is the fact that he's been (1) harping on this for a good 5 years now and everyone is tired of reading it, and (2) nobody is taking his spun Tales From The Jock Keeper serious enough to think he's pulling players aside and lecturing them on what they need to do and that his words have had some profound impact on Dyson and caused him to changed his game. b/w the forced "Quite Franklys" in everyone of his posts, his insistence that he's an insider, and made up convos where he's made up imaginary posters asking for him to give scouting reports on players, he seems to have co-opted JC's persona into his own and is coming off as an oddball.

I just state my opinion and relate what I know from personal experience. I have never presented my creditionals as an insider nor have I denied them. I have conversations with people I never lecture people. I think you will find most players look for an edge or a way to improve - as I have said Jerome has recently joined that camp - I also posted I did not say anything that Calhoun has not said publicly or Jerome hasn't told others. If you read my post it is very positive about Jerome today - I think I was ahead of the curve during his UConn playing days - until the 9 turnover South FL game. Please take me at my word that I want the best for Jerome.

I probably shouldn't go there since some posters now on this Board just have a visceral emotional reaction rather than a thoughtful one. But, quite frankly, here's my take: I don't think Stanley would have blossomed in the tournament and played some of the best games of his career if Jerome was in the lineup. It was more than a coincidence that he played his best ball with Jerome out. It was even more complicated than just bad chemistry. Dogmania touch or referred to a certain interaction at the time and it was not good. I will also say this, Stanley was one of the nicest kids you would ever want to meet. He wasn't perfect but he was dependent on guards to get him the ball in the right places since he lacked a handle. Stanley also had very fragile confidence for someone so athletic.
