According to http://zagsblog.com/recruiting/kelly-oubre-talks-schools-will-cut-list-again/ Kelly Oubre recently cut his list down to 8 schools: Kansas, Florida, Kentucky, Georgetown, Louisville, Oregon, UConn and UNLV.

Jeff Goodman then releases this article today http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/jef...oodman-ranking-the-best-players-i-saw-in-july where he says: 4. Kelly Oubre -- The 6-7 forward from Houston is long and ultra-athletic, and one NBA scout told me there was no one more intriguing player at the Global Challenge due to his overall package of size, athleticism and skill. He can make 3s, pull up from midrange and also finish above the rim. His top seven are Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Georgetown, Louisville, Oregon and UNLV.

Now...I respect Goodman about as much as I do Gary Parrish, so I wouldn't be surprised if he has a personal axe to grind, but isn't it a little crazy that he just took Uconn out of Oubre's top 8 and claimed he only has a top 7?

The stuff with Goodman is just really strange, Oubre cutting his list to that 8 was all over, no way that can be a typo/oversight on Goodman's end.

I really liked Goodman when he rescued all the kids in The Goonies but ever since then he has been a huge .

Didn't somebody just make this exact joke the other day?

Yes they did and I thought it was hilarious, not trying to steal his thunder just paying homage. Goodman does have a striking resemblance to Sloth just as Gary Parrish looks like a guy that Snookie rejected at the shore. I think it was BigErn who made the Goonies joke, thought we could get a little more play out of it.

Normally when we say this reporter hates us I think were overreacting. But Goodman just decides to cut us from Oubre's list?

I doubt we get Oubre but were most likely in his top 5 at this point.

I saw this today on ESPN.com also and just laughed. I can't wait to see Goodman one day and ask him what axe he has to grind with UConn. I'm pretty sure I know why but want him to admit he does.

what makes it even more blatant is that Paul Biancardi is the one who reported the list, and he works for ESPN. your source is a co-worker yet you still get it wrong?

I really liked him when he was the Speaker of the House during Martin Sheen's presidency...oh wait, I think that was John Goodman...

He acts real strange being a Boston native. Perhaps Calhoun should investigate him.

Dis don't stop

I sat with Goodman and a mutual friend at the Nike tourney in Vegas a couple of years ago and he had nothing but positive things to say about UCONN and Calhoun. Andectotal to be sure but didn't seem to have much hatred at the time.

Way to go, Boneyard! Goodman must read this as he has edited the article to include a top 8 with us listed.

I commented on the article, actually. But never would have seen it without reading it here, so the Boneyard still gets credit.

And Lance Parrish was a pretty good catcher but MTL, so nobody cares.

Fall Back Goodman!!!

Anyone else besides me want Abu more than Oubre? Better fit IMO.
Um, we're not exactly in a position to be picking and choosing which recruits we want to attend UConn.

We should all be thrilled if either one commits.

Won't both fit? Hamilton 2, Oubre 3, Abu 4.

I would be ecstatic with either, but I don't think each would conflict with the other.
Yea they both would fit. However, I think of Oubre more as a luxury since we got Hamilton. Hamilton is a wing and so is Oubre. I looked at the question as if we could only have one. In that case I would want Abu more because he's a PF.

I'll take Oubre because he can flat out score from everywhere.......can never have enough guys who can fill it up and with him and DHam will be able to rebound the ball. We have Facey for the PF already and may get Robinson too........plenty of athletes on the floor is great! Not that Abu is not.......take him too!

I really want Abu.
In the same article today he has Abu as the 3rd best prospect he saw this summer. If UConn gets Abu and then Goodman writes negative stuff about Abu then you can be sure he hates UConn! :)

3. Abdul Malik-Abu -- He fasted until sundown each day due to his religious beliefs, but was still among the hardest-playing guys every time he took the court. The 6-8 power forward owns the glass, and is more skilled than people realize. His stock continues to soar. His final 10: UConn, Florida, Kentucky, Miami (FL), Providence, NC State, St. John’s, UCLA, Iowa State and Kansas State.

Of course we are, we're fans. That's what we do; speculate on which recruits we will get and which ones we want

Oubre is a fierce competitor and a great defender as well.
