But were not getting that this year--I'll take the trade -off. This is going to be a difficult year. We are having just so many things go against us and I don't see Boatright being healthy anytime soon. Of course we can keep our heads up and try our best to do some damage--but I look to next year with Amida and Hamilton coming back---maybe bringing in Stone--we will be a true NC contender. The one thing I think we may need to look at is an additional PG to Adams--perhaps an older transfer guy. This year is a development year for next year and any upside will be great. Weve done this in the past and thats how we win NC. With all our core guys coming back other than Boatright--as long as adams is the real deal--we have a great great shot at it next year. Im just going to enjoy this year and not expect anything-and if anything special occurs--well great.

So far this year you have Lubin in the NBA in three years, Brimah as the #1 pick in next year's draft, and this team minus its most irreplaceable player contending for a national championship next year.

But we're not. So watch the games. Hope we win. But don't kid yourself. We deserve our record.

OK even I find this overly optimistic.

By luck, do you mean free throw shooting?

I think we have two top 10 picks in our line up next year Brimah and Hamilton with stronger bodies increased skills and experience. Facey looks like he will be really good. It gives Purvis a year to work on his game. We could have two impact rookies in Stone and Adams.. Guys like Calhoun Nolan Samuels will all be upper classmen. We need Cassell to become the 3 pt specialist that we could use.

With an infinitesimal amount of bad luck, we are 6-5, coming off a first round tournament loss. I'll take this year after last year.

Luck is created by players who have high IQs and are talented enough to take and make big shots, defend well, and position well. We are lacking in intangibles, IQ, and talent wise with our guards. You can;t get lucky when those factors are lacking. Next year will be a good year for us.

I think that this is a slightly better than .500 team year. The weak conference may make that record slightly better. The lack of a second PG, injuries, freshman mistakes and the overall learning curve for many players will all conspire to keep us out of the tournament this year. No complaints, though. Not after last year.

There's nothing unlucky about our 6-5 record it's what we are. We are not a clutch team. However, we are very young and very talented. Looking to the future I think we are top 5-10 team next year. This year it's AAC tourney or bust.

This ^^^^^

If we look back 2 years ago at 20-10 there were plenty of rivals who would've like a few of those games back - so we could've been 15-15 easily too. You earn your wins and when they are sitting in your face you GRAB them like Bazz did .

Our worst luck today was the ref blowing the whistle on Shot clock violation when we had clear possession and a fast break early in OT. Oh and KO calling a timeout as Purvis hurried a 3.

That 3 was way after the whistle. Temple stopped defending, and Purvis just chucked it up for the hell of it. Means as much as a shot in warm ups.

The leak out sucks. I hate that rule - hated it for 20 years. Just play a delayed whistle until you see who gets possession. That's what you do for a backcourt violation (or what hockey does for offsides). Seems so simple.

There was a full second on the clock Brimah grabbed it had I believe TSam right at half court. It is in General a stupid rule but particularly when it cost us a bucket.

I agree. The refs are conscious of where the shot clock is and should be able to swallow their whistles. That one change and the timeout in the backcourt that generates a fresh 10 second period to cross half court are the two most glaring things that need to be addressed.

also, back to back losses by off balance 3 point shots that had to be rushed due to the amount of time left in the game. The fact that both of those shots went in is a little unlucky. Those types of shots go in lets say 25-30% of the time. So 27.5% x 27.5% = 7.5% chance that both shots go in. I would say coming out 0-2 in those games is a little unlucky.

Injuries happen and it appears this is the year they happen to UConn. Has UConn played more than one game with a full roster? anyone who says 6-5 is what UConn is has not paid attention to injuries at all. This lose and Yale were heavily impacted by injuries, mainly to Boat. He's the star of the offense and without him UConn is in rough waters. Hopefully UConn can get healthy and stay healthy and make a run, and the committee takes injuries into account when selection occurs.
