Jayden Ross Returning!!!

Best practice player in the Nation, and I say that complimentary. He will make our players much better.

It's up to him to go beyond, he is a Champion.

E
Mau, if you go back and watch the games during the second half of the year this did not happen.

At most, guys would make crazy contested shots in Ross face. But this narrative is not true of him getting beat off the dribble.

I wish you all would stop saying this without finding video proof. It’s unfair to the kid.
Exactly, show us the proof. I dont think he made a mistake towards the end of the year. He wasnt making a ton of positive offensive plays, but he did make some of those too.

So your theory is that there is no chance he can improve from his sophomore to junior year? It is impossible "no chance" for him to be a meaningful contributor?

I truly do not understand these kinds of posts. What leads you to this conclusion?
I was talking about Adams. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Ross makes a big jump

Happy he’s back. Any team would love a player of his size and athleticism coming off the bench next year. Who’s going to guard Kedary Richmond when Ball or Demary need a breather? Richmond is 6‘6“, 23 years old fast and tough. You’re gonna need someone like Ross on him for some minutes.
Richmond is out of eligibility isn't he?

I agree. This could possibly be the most athletic team of the Hurley era.
Really? I mean, we're swapping Demary for Diarra, so that's an upgrade. While Stew is probably a better athlete than Liam, Stew hasn't shown he knows how to use it yet. Three of the four freshmen are just okay athletes, and we lose pound for pound our best in Samson. If anything, I'm concerned one of the primary issues of this team this year, a lack of athleticism, really hasn't been remedied at all.

This is great news, every championship team needs role players like him. I like his athleticism and he’s aggressive. Now with playing experience under his belt, he can take off next year. A role player but he will be a good one. Similar to Hassan when we won the title.

As easy as he let the freshmen go into the portal, it really makes me wonder how much of an emotional decision maker he can be, as he seems glued to this sophomore group. Just throwing it out there, but might he be attached to anything connected with the NC teams?
Where do you get this stuff from?
Hurley is attached to guys who barely played on the 24 title team at the expense of better players? Based on what?
This is off the wall.

With how certain people are that he got beat all the time you’d think this would be an easy task to find an example.

There’s a full game replays thread and he only played like 3 mins.
Go to 7:20 in the first half of the last Creighton game. He’s defending the primary ball handler, misplays the screen, ends up getting beat off the dribble (despite playing well off his man that far out), and ends up committing a blocking foul because he’s out of position and trying to recover. I think the dude has plenty of defensive upside but he’s raw and still makes a bunch of mistakes. I think you’re the only one I’ve seen who currently thinks he’s a top notch defender.

Btw, that was the first game I looked at and probably the second possession where he was guarding a ball handler so I did not have to look far.

Hypothetical - not saying it's totally accurate. He's letting two frosh walk, meanwhile totally tied to these sophs. As supersticious/emotional as the guy is, nothing surprises me there.

Did you hear him talk about how Samson and when he arrived, he is part of what drove their culture to being B2B? I'm not sure how realistic that is TBH. It's almost as if he was tying his presence alone to it.

I'm sure that Hurley has an emotional attachment to the sophomores but I think it's a bit of a leap to say he's making personnel decisions based on it. Solo had the sophomore year people were envisioning for him. The other guys didn't, but I think the far more rational explanation is that he genuinely believes both of those guys are going to break out and didn't see the same path for Abraham and Nowell.

Re: Samson, by all accounts he was the most beloved guy in the program. I don't think we are privy to the dynamic behind the scenes and shouldn't discount how important the presence of certain guys is.

I can’t tell who makes more off the wall takes between 611 and Nelson. I thought 611 used to make some really good posts until recently.
Nelson trolls with half his posts while 611 actually believes the fever dreams he shares.

You continually talk about Samson Johnson as if he were a lucky penny or something and not a contribution to our success this year and last. I do not understand it.

I hope Ross comes back as the second coming of Kobe, but I’ll take a solid role player also. If Danny didn’t have some belief in him I’m sure he’d let him know and we’d see him in the portal. Cautiously optimistic that he can be a contributor but we’ll see.

I still need to get used to players who average 2ppg announcing that they’ll be returning, but alas it’s a new world.

Maybe you just have comprehension issues due to your antagonistic personality? Cognitive therapy is helpful.

I am antagonized by people who claim to be UConn fans and constantly trash UConn players and then tell people who call it out they have "blue goggles" or whatever. You got me there.

Not every thought needs to be shared with everyone.

What?

I hope the entire team adds some muscle this off season. If Alex decides to leave I hope we go out and get a serviceable 6-9 or 6-10 guy to help our front court. I think Mullins will play quality minutes this coming season.

Wow, this post was something.

Man, the Boneyard is CRAZY! Ross didn't knock it out of the park this year, but we can't deny that he's an energy guy. He has the chance to become an important piece of the puzzle as we work towards a championship. I absolutely see him developing into that first forward off the bench, giving us an energy boost and help stretching out the floor.

I think we're a lot better having him on the roster than not. We can't underestimate the fact he's been in the system. He's gonna be someone to watch IMHO.

Ahh yes Kadary is done but you get my point. Jayden can provide solid backup minutes defending big guards. Not expecting him to be a starter, but definitely expecting him to provide solid minutes.
