January General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

Can't make up that Arizona's close win over "CFU" is excused by them being ranked #25 for a single week. But our Seton Hall win is continuously used as a negative when they were also ranked #25 for a single week.

Not to mention the supposed basketball genius calling them "CFU"
I was waiting for the last of the bee hive to surface.

I think AZ would be about 3-4 point favorites on a neutral court
This is perfectly reasonable, I think you'd be wrong and UConn wins, but that's a fine take. If you started with that this morning nobody would have had a single thing to say to you. But instead you went into your usual dramatic exaggerations comparing them to the best team this century and saying they're dramatically better than UConn.

I mean this seriously, I think you'd do better off on Reddit just talking with college basketball fans and not UConn fans. They'd appreciate you trashing every UConn player far more than a UConn board will. This may come as a surprise to you but most UConn fans root for their team, unlike you

That’s clearly what I said.

What a guy.

How about answering the question.

Do you think UConn with Taris and Braylon on a neutral would have less of a chance at winning than UConn without them at home?

It’s a pretty straightforward, simple question. I’m genuinely interested and amused to hear your rationale behind this.
You’re basically saying this btw - who aren’t we beating per your theory if we aren’t beating the number one undefeated team in the country?

I think if UConn played AZ right now on a neutral court, AZ would win. Yes. They are, the better team right now. Again, if we weren't here in the Boneyard, you'd likely get that same take just about everywhere.

I haven't seen UConn become significantly better in BE play with the both of them than we were without them. So based on current play, I think AZ would be about 3-4 point favorites on a neutral court.

Always amazes me when a disagreement makes someone stoop to name calling. I'd love seeing you and SJ get into a tantrum together.
You didn’t answer the question.

You said the location was more of a factor than Taris and Braylon being out. So for clarity I asked, you think UConn without Taris and Braylon have a better chance at home than UConn with Taris and Braylon on a neutral?

The logical answer is UConns injuries that game were way more of an impact than Arizona “traveling”. But you can’t give UConn any advantage lmao

Why? Because you’re not a UConn fan. You’re a fan of winning.

Question: where were you on the boneyard from 4/2014 until 2024? It’s mighty convenient you disappeared during the losing, and reappeared once we started winning again. You jump on every bandwagon that’s at the front of the train. It’s so predictable. You’re not objective in the slightest.

Oh good god you’re slapping that on me? Righteous. I am a UConn fan since 1988 when they weren’t winning much. I prefer winning but enjoy the journey.

It’s ok to know you’re not the best team 100% of the time. Christ all mighty.

We all have admitted we weren’t the best in the past. So again, Strawman. Strawman. Strawman.

But back to the topic. Just coincidence huh?

That truth hit hard.

Solo has become a net negative with Braylon out there for awhile now. There has been a drawback to working Braylon into the scorer's role. It's congested.
You nailed it the first time, Arizona traveling to play at UConn is a way bigger disadvantage than UConn playing Arizona without Tarris and Braylon.

Of course UConn was better when they didn't have Tarris and Braylon, that's just common sense.

It's why I was always supported starting one of Ross or Stew and having one of Ball or Braylon off the bench.

Roles matter. There can only be one defacto #1 before it feels like toes are being stepped on.

It's also why I was on my year 2 Braylon campaign but I didn't expect him to step up into the #1 role at the expense of Solo.

That dynamic is something that will have to be figured out by March.

The best Braylon has looked was against Providence down the stretch when the offense was for him and Solo was benched. Solo hasn't been the same since they've been trying to share that #1 role.

If you are all done discussing pointless conjecture about Arizona, there are a lot of big games coming up Saturday. Including UConn vs Nova.

UNC - UVA
UGA - Texas
Arizona - WVU
Houston - TT
Illinois - Purdue
Tennessee - Bama

Since Woj became a college GM he's had all of his media buddies pumping up St Bonaventure, the job he's done and the players he's recruited but I doubt we're gonna see too much noise about them being on the verge of dropping to 1-6 in the A10

Burries is 20 and Peat is built like he's 25. I'm not sure I've seen a physique like that guy in a while. Peat is a lotto pick, Burries a first rounder.

Duke is being lead by a frosh. BYU. Our top scorer by end of year should be a frosh. UNC, Louisville, etc.

The Nate Ament drop has been interesting to watch. Size/skill hasn't translated as well as presumed as he's a bit slow & soft.
Rick Barnes who can’t coach offense (see Steve Pikiel) must be blowing a gasket with Ament. Thought it was a strange commitment when it happened
