McVay is an incredible coach Snead is an incredible GM. When the Rams won the Super Bowl at the end of the 2021 season, conventional wisdom was that it was going to be a multi-year rebuild because they had traded so much to get a win that season. They were back in the playoffs two seasons later, and are now one game from the Super Bowl.

In 2004, Purdue was the only team that scared me. I was nervous when we met them in the championship. This is a weird year because there are like eight teams that I think are as good or better than us. It’s gonna be fun from here on out!

2024.....

Hear you - it's hard to really know which teams will be peaking by March. We certainly haven't, and Hurley is still trying to figure things out with this team. Our OKP is 36. That won't cut it come March. I think there will be about 12 teams by March that will be in a bucket of potentials. Top 7 plus BYU, TT, Kansas, Florida.

I agree about Purdue, but that being said, I was so excited they were the championship matchup. It would’ve been devastating to lose, obviously, but I also knew that to beat them would be the best ending to the story of that season (like Duke in ‘99 was, albeit 2024 was less dramatic than that).

From the story of the season standpoint, assuming we make it to the title (big assumption - spoiled fan), I’d hope to see Arizona there. Or to meet them on the way to a final against Michigan.

What was Caleb doing throwing downfield 2nd and 8 from the Rams 48 in OT? Chip away, you need 13-14 yards for a game winning FG.

Caleb is super talented, but he makes some tough decisions. Can win or lose you the game I guess.
I’m far from a football X and Os guy, but Chase Daniel, who was a former NFL quarterback, did a full breakdown showing that two receivers screwed up the pattern and misread the coverage. Moore especially, the intended receiver, had a ton of space but slowed up and didn’t cut and the underneath receiver, who’s guy actually made the INT, ran into the space where Williams was throwing. Kind of fascinating.

Still, from a play call standpoint, just eat away and get in field goal range. Swift was getting yards.

Greggy pretty direct on his feelings, saying his eye test suggests Uconn "stinks" right now.

I’m always looking at the silver lining of things as a UConn fan, so if I were to concede that I was concerned at times during the Providence and Georgetown games, I’ll say that my biggest takeaway is we still won despite not firing on all or event most (@Georgetown) cylinders.

Assuming the potential is there for everyone and everything this team has to come together at once, it absolutely could be an unstoppable force in March/April.

That’d be my response to Greggy.

With greg it's hard to tell if he's just opportunistically hating or overreacting, probably both. As much as the gtown game sucked the biggest takeaway from January is BY FAR the emergence of demary. the bad shooting and solo struggle will fix itself, but demary being this good is a positive surprise that could not be counted on before it happened. In the big picture this is a good month they just need to reset a bit and find a new way to attack how they are being defended + hit more shots.

Yes! Demary's Evan Maya has actually skyrocketed. He's close to the top ten now, that's how efficient he's been on both sides. Easily our most valuable player of late.

So that part is working.

Bill Self with another health issue episode.

Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball coach Bill Self was hospitalized Monday out of caution and did not travel with the team to Colorado, the school announced.

Self was feeling "under the weather" before being taken to LMH Health, where he received IV fluids, the school said.

Stinks. He’ll prob miss games against 3 ranked opponents: Purdue, Nebraska and MSU. Hopefully back for Michigan.
That really does suck for Illinois and UConn. Boswell is arguably their best player, and indisputably their most important player.

Illinois euros are gonna have to earn their money with Boswell out. On another note, when UF lost to Missouri a few weeks back I was wondering if they were gonna make the tourney, now they look like the best team in the SEC.

They look like a top ten team again. The thing about hoops, always trust good coaches will figure it out. Golden, Samson, these guys will figure it out eventually.

This Miami of Ohio team is pretty darn tough.

Edit: Of course they're losing.
I know this matters less now with the transfer portal, but also worth noting that 5 of their 7 main rotation players are sophomores/juniors too. A lot can change but they could theoretically come back as an even bigger threat next year. And they'll be a big threat in March this year too

They have a few dudes that can really shoot it, and a good coach. I wouldn't be surprised at them being a 12 seed that everyone picks to win a game or 2.

Braden Smith was having a blah game but he's closing out UCLA

Not watching but I saw turnover and the Purdue lead is 1 … mick looking for a big win

8-0 run by UCLA to close out the game after Purdue had gone up 6 off of Smith's shotmaking/playmaking, they win by 2 after a 3 with 7 seconds left. Purdue fans too smug on social media so I'm happy they got handed an L.

Wow - that knocked out 2 parlays I had, annoying as heck Purdue but not complaining from a UConn perspective.

Sleepers boys have Uconn out of their top ten based on current play.

Does anyone know if there are any rules in place to handle the potential of 2 seed Houston being placed in Houston for the South Regional? Is anything in place to prevent it from happening? Obviously it would royally screwed over a 1 seed. Because in the current bracketology, we are the 1 seed in the South Region (finals played in Houston). They have Nebraska as our 2 seed. Seems the consensus is if Duke has a similiar resume they will be sent to DC I saw one projection that had us in Houston with Texas Tech as our 4 and Houston as our 2 seed. That would be 2 road games. A nightmare scenario to keep an eye on.

the hype on metrics darling Vanderbilt has gone up in smoke
Reddit got mad at me when I said, after loss 1, that they'd lose several more in the next month. I still think the bleeding isn't done.
