Houston was written off a bit prematurely when they underperformed at the Players Tourney. I know this is a home blowout over a bad team, but they look the part of a contender. Maybe we’ll know more when they hit a little three-game gauntlet in February: at Iowa State, home for Arizona, at Kansas.

They were always going to find their way back into the mix - that is a talented team with a very good coach. Fleming is a top ten pick, Uzan, Tugler and Sharp are strong carryovers from last years team. Cenac is also a really highly ranked frosh who took some time. Samson said earlier in the year that it was going to take time to get this group to figure it out. They'll be right there. I'm piqued to see the battle for the B12. ISU looks like they're already opting out a bit, BYU took a blow this weekend to. My guess is that it's between AZ and Houston.

Yeah what you described just happened in the Texans game. the wr caught the ball and as he was falling down the defender ripped it away but the wr was ruled down by contact. But we’ve never seen what happened last night before. The broncos defender had both his hands on the ball before the wr went down and then the defender popped up with it. It all happened in one fluid motion.
Bears player just took it away from the Rams receiver, no "football move" knee down. Make it all up as you go along.

Diff on that one seemed to be Adams had an official catch before his knee went down. Separate note, have the Pats had these playoffs gift wrapped? Herbert, Stroud and now Stidham? Wild.

Oh, Swift had to feel that ground contact. Ouch.

I like all three NFC QBs for different reasons (Rams/Bears isn't over yet). But I think Caleb would be the most difficult matchup for the Pats. Just seems he's never out of the game regardless how crappy he played the first 50 minutes. One of the best improvisers at his age I can recall.

Question is / will the NFL do what they can to keep Denver out of the SB? Not sure anyone wants to see a backup QB out there.

As a wise man once said, you want it to be one way, but it’s the other way.

Yeah Adams knee was down and he had the ball. It's different from Brandin Cooks in Broncos game.
As for AFC playoffs I was hoping for Josh Allen to make the Super Bowl. This year lined up nice for him with no Patrick Mahomes, no Lamar Jackson, no Joe Burrow.
Pats have it made. I don't see how Stidham will get up to speed in such a short amount of time.

I cannot believe that TD throw by Williams. It reminds me of when I played Tecmo Bowl using Phil Simms and I would run back 50 yards and then throw it deep into end zone.

Have never seen a play like that in the history of the NFL - threw it from the 40.

As in, will the NFL do a wink wink, nod nod with the refs for that one. No one wants to see Jarrod Stidham in the SB.
I understood. I think that’s crazy

It's the SB - KC's gotten plenty of love getting Mahomes there from the refs. You think they want to market Jarrod Stidham for two weeks? The guy has never started an NFL game and no one knows him, and no one will know after season ends.

Stidham has started a few games for the Raiders and Broncos. But I hear you.

The refs can't explain it because it makes no sense.

Bears lost the game because of Ben Johnson. Horrible playcalling all game and leaving points on the board by being a gambler.

What was Caleb doing throwing downfield 2nd and 8 from the Rams 48 in OT? Chip away, you need 13-14 yards for a game winning FG.

Caleb is super talented, but he makes some tough decisions. Can win or lose you the game I guess.

McVay is an incredible coach Snead is an incredible GM. When the Rams won the Super Bowl at the end of the 2021 season, conventional wisdom was that it was going to be a multi-year rebuild because they had traded so much to get a win that season. They were back in the playoffs two seasons later, and are now one game from the Super Bowl.

In 2004, Purdue was the only team that scared me. I was nervous when we met them in the championship. This is a weird year because there are like eight teams that I think are as good or better than us. It’s gonna be fun from here on out!

2024.....

Hear you - it's hard to really know which teams will be peaking by March. We certainly haven't, and Hurley is still trying to figure things out with this team. Our OKP is 36. That won't cut it come March. I think there will be about 12 teams by March that will be in a bucket of potentials. Top 7 plus BYU, TT, Kansas, Florida.

I agree about Purdue, but that being said, I was so excited they were the championship matchup. It would’ve been devastating to lose, obviously, but I also knew that to beat them would be the best ending to the story of that season (like Duke in ‘99 was, albeit 2024 was less dramatic than that).

From the story of the season standpoint, assuming we make it to the title (big assumption - spoiled fan), I’d hope to see Arizona there. Or to meet them on the way to a final against Michigan.

I’m far from a football X and Os guy, but Chase Daniel, who was a former NFL quarterback, did a full breakdown showing that two receivers screwed up the pattern and misread the coverage. Moore especially, the intended receiver, had a ton of space but slowed up and didn’t cut and the underneath receiver, who’s guy actually made the INT, ran into the space where Williams was throwing. Kind of fascinating.

Still, from a play call standpoint, just eat away and get in field goal range. Swift was getting yards.
