I guess I am. I just managed my diet for one day, drank the liquid and stayed home. Nothing too tough.

Good suggestion to move to plain / low residuals foods a 2-3 days ahead of prep. Done this a few times and the type of prep is key. Was given one prescription prep that was the most vile thing ever and had horrible night. Switched Docs and was told to take Dulcolax and MiraLAX and it was an immensely better experience. Not a fun time still, but not torture either.

That's insane re those guys. A guy I work with is in his early 40s, went in for one, they found cancer, and he had to undergo treatment. He's in the clear for now. He'd have left a wife and kids behind if he didn't get that test.

I only just got one a couple years ago (I'm 49). They used to only recommend it for 50+ but wisely they've lowered the age. What I found odd was after I got a clean bill of health, I asked how soon I should get another one, and the doctor said 10 years. That seems crazy to me.

I believe the current recommendation is every 5 years, they changed it from 10 recently.

For those that have gotten a colonoscopy and used the pills instead of drinking the mixture...would you recommend?

I drank the nasty orange fluid the first time, and barely was able to get it down (hurl factor was real). Definitely thinking of switching

I have the pleasure of having one of my best friends be my GI doc. I've never had a problem with the prep and the knockout drugs are a blast. I'm also fortunate enough to have a few friends who are CRNA's.

45 is the new 50 and if there is family history, 40 isn't out of the range of recommendations.

What is most alarming is that colorectal is now the MOST deadly form of cancer in the U.S. for adults under 50. I did not know that.

My friend is probably less than 5 years from retiring but I sometimes kid him it eill be tough to step away with whole new demographic feeding him business.

Adding another aspect to this. Fortunately, colon cancer historically was slow moving and considered a function of getting old.

That was the rationale behind starting exams at 50 and getting check ups every 10 years. Even most at risk patients had 5 years between exams.

What this means is if people in their 40's are getting colon cancer, the cancer probably starting growing while they were in their 30's. And that is pretty whack.

I just saw clip of when James was on Rich Eisen Show. He had his number changed to 4 in Varsity Blues in honor of Favre. He was a Packer fan since he didn’t like the fact that the Patriots grouped CT into New England for a Boston area team.
