James Van Der Beek RIP

You’re right, Chin. Colorectal cancer rates are skyrocketing among 20- and 30-something Americans, and medical experts can’t pinpoint why. Probably poor diets and sedentary lifestyles. What is most alarming is that colorectal is now the MOST deadly form of cancer in the U.S. for adults under 50. I did not know that.

Here's another article with much of the same info.

My friend is probably less than 5 years from retiring but I sometimes kid him it eill be tough to step away with whole new demographic feeding him business.

James Van Der Beek's death from colorectal cancer at 48 shines a light on startling stats

Adding another aspect to this. Fortunately, colon cancer historically was slow moving and considered a function of getting old.

That was the rationale behind starting exams at 50 and getting check ups every 10 years. Even most at risk patients had 5 years between exams.

What this means is if people in their 40's are getting colon cancer, the cancer probably starting growing while they were in their 30's. And that is pretty whack.

I just saw clip of when James was on Rich Eisen Show. He had his number changed to 4 in Varsity Blues in honor of Favre. He was a Packer fan since he didn’t like the fact that the Patriots grouped CT into New England for a Boston area team.
