i have two friends both telling me they're hearing rumors of JMU to the AAC. Anyone else hearing this?

Do these friends work in the AD of ECU and Tulane? Because they are the only people desparate enough for wins to consider this.

JMU would have kicked serious ass in football in this league last year. Both of their lines were legit.

JMU finished up with an RPI equivalent to that of ECU, ahead of both Tulsa and UConn. Here's how the sim says they would have fared against UConn's (3-9) schedule. JMU played ECU and won 34-14, so I didn't sim that one:

Holy Cross W 43-0
@UVA W 24-21
East Carolina W 34-14
@SMU W 34-31
Memphis L 36-29
@Temple W 22-19
Tulsa W 34-20
Missouri L 33-32
USF L 27-26
@UCF L 41-21
BC (Neutral Site): L 25-16
@Cincinnati W 29-15

Record: 7-5 (5-3)

This record was the equivalent of Houston (RPI 52), so let's put them in the Hawaii Bowl against Fresno State (Houston lost that game 33-27):

Hawaii Bowl: Fresno State, L 20-19

So, long story short, last year JMU was a passable G6 team!

ESPN's Lee Fitting, former producer of College Gameday, now head of a whole lot more there, is a JMU alum. So perhaps a better TV deal! (ha)

I live in VA, my son went to Madison and a very good friend is wired in in Harrisonburg. There is absolutely zero noise about any conference move. They would love to move up...spent money adding on to their stadium with a plan to increase it further.

I'm sure they reach all the way to Winchester. Seriously the fastest way for a UConn team to get to Harrisonburg would be by bus

We couldn’t swing a direct flight to Charlottesville?

We couldn’t swing a direct flight to Charlottesville?

Only if UConn has the resources to send all of the teams on a charter.

I made 10 trips between BDL & Charlottesville some years back. Unless it has changed a lot the quickest flight would leave of BDL at about 6:30 AM change at Dulles in DC and arrive in Charlottesville about 10:30. Other options took as long as 6-7 hours.

JMU didn't build a stadium like this just to play URI and Maine.

Charlottesville is a tiny airport with just 1 runway at under 7,000 feet and limited facilities. Thus, its going to be mostly regional jets flying there from the main hubs in NYC, Philly, Dulles, Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte with an occasional 737. Better off flying to Dulles direct from BDL and driving from there (about 2 hours), just time it to avoid the worst parts of the DC rush.

One of the best FCS football programs on the east coast? Yeah they can come in. Would be a good addition from a football perspective. That photo of their football stadium is actually only half of their “unfinished” stadium. I think it fits 25k right now with potential to expand with better conference to over 40k.

Today we didn’t build our stadium with the ability to contract to 25k for a worse conference

Ok... doesn’t neglect the fact that they’ve had success with football. Not exactly as open minded as me which is fine.

Bad stadium, bad town, mediocre team, no history at high level. Don’t we have enough of those already??
