Kemba tended to have those games against Big East and power conference teams, not schools that have been in Division I for less than 20 years.

Plenty of time this season for Adams to torch some power conference teams.

I agree on Adams. But you really shouldn't need to have to do that against Stony Brook to win down the stretch. I'd feel a lot better if he wins a game doing this against a ranked team.

What was our record vs. DI teams in that tournament?
Are you drinking or something tonight?
AntG said what I was going to - look at what JA did against some great comp in Maui last year - not talking about victories- Jay Bilas said it was one of the best individual efforts at the tournament in memory - but UConn didn't win (Kemba didn't play with 2 of his best teammates out) so the accomplishment is not good?
Remember - Kemba's year was what .500 in the BE with a few WTF losses

He was great the 2nd half but why was he invisible the 1st 20 minutes If he really is All American caliber then he has to do it for 40 minutes and not disappear for long stretches. It's only 1 game but I hope he has improved his 3 Point shooting. If he can shoot around 40% and play like he did in the 2nd half then he will have made the big leap forward.... time will tell.

Dude why are you so negative? Every post from you is putting somebody on the team down. Why do you even root for the Huskies? What do they have to do go undefeated and win by 50 points every game?

You guys have to stop with the Kemba comparisons. It's cringe worthy. It's embarrassing. When Kemba was a junior he led the team to two early wins against Top 10 teams. First thing Adams does as team leader is get suspended. I would think he would be chomping on the bit to get back on the floor. Instead. he just went through the motions for the first half. And the team followed him. Good thing we were playing such a weak team. Saying "we would have lost this game last year" really isn't that inspirational.

Kemba started the year hot from 3 and then cooled. Need to see that 3 point shooting from him to be really effective against teams with better interior defense.

UCONN beat Stony Brook 79-52 in 2011. It was a beat down in the second half of that game, 40-21. Kemba Walker put up 18 pts. He was 1 for 4 from 3. No comparisons between the two players should be made until Jalen has played his last game for us.

^^^This

I get that the young blood on the board want their guy to be raised up to the heights of the UConn greats, but a decent 2nd half against Stony Brook isn't gonna do that. He had 19 pts on 8 buckets and they were down 9 with 5.5 minutes to play. He couldn't carry Kemba's gym bag right now.

Comparisons at this point in their respective careers are not so outlandish

Highly regarded PG recruits, check
Team incredibly disappointing for sophomore season, check (and Kemba's team wasn't decimated by injuries)
Recruiting class heading into junior year universally mocked, check
People telling us the wheels have fallen off the wagon, check

Yep, there sure be a lot of worthy comparisons. Of course, nobody can pretend they saw Kemba's 2011 season coming, just like nobody saw 2014 or 2009 or 2002 or 1990 and other seasons that exceeded expectations. So try to forgive fans for being optimistic, not everyone wants to sit here moaning about something all day long. And I think people should stop pretending they saw Kemba's greatness coming, because NOBODY did.

There will be a another great Husky, there will be another year we "shock the world", and nobody will see that coming either

Kemba in 2014 was 33% from 3's and 47% from 2's. JA last year was 35% from 3's and 46% from 2's. Any improvement in shooting %'s this year over last year will put JA in a better shooting efficiency category than Kemba. Where Kemba shined was getting to the foul line. Both shot real good % in low 80's but Kemba got to the line almost 8 times a game to 3 for JA. That is 4 points a game (80% times 5 FT). Big impact on games/season. Kemba's team averaged 72.4 PPG vs. JA team 67.3 so that 4 points in fouls extra made by Kemba was a large part of the 5.1 point difference.
So, JA keep up the shooting (or hopefully improve some) and get to foul line and will be approaching Kemba type impact in scoring. Little better at managing TO's and keep up assist, rebounding efforts and this will put him at the Kahlid, Taliek, Kemba, Bazz performance level, up to rest of the team and a little good fortune to see how far that can take UConn this year.

Thank you. Kemba should have been national POY. Adams may have a really good year, but the fact that he was able to physically dominate Stony Brook for one half gives absolutely no reason for Kemba comparisons. It's not a knock on Adams to say he is not comparable to Kemba.

But Kemba did it against what was literally one of the strongest schedules that any team has ever played. Adams numbers last year -- and this year -- will not be against the same level of competition.

Their first two years were very comparable, even accounting for the difference in competition. But Kemba made a leap in year three that will likely never be duplicated. It's unreasonable to expect the same from anyone.

Kemba put up those shooting %'s on 32% usage, while Jalen was at 26% last year.

BIIIG difference.
