Jalen Gaffney now ready to unleash ‘above-the-rim athleticism’

In pre-game waremups, maybe. Gaff has no explosion at all. When he starts into the paint, every team catches up with him. That's why he hesitates. He's not Div I Talent. Short-time backup only.
Not division 1 talent? Laughable.

Players are going to develop at different times. He has players in front of him that are going to be the go-to guys for the next year. His opportunity will come and when it does he will be ready. Great kid and easy to root for!

Really? Already making the call 6 games into his career?
Actually he is a redshirt jr. And yes he just isn’t the same player as he was at a Mid Major school. Rahsool will be able to create more get in lanes and kick. Would be able to finish around the rim. RJ also passes up shots he should take. Not saying he stinks or suck just don’t think he’s a high level D1 player

What are we thinking about this take at this point in the season? The predictions for explosiveness and athleticism aren't apparent yet. Is it there? What is this kid's real ceiling?

I still think he is going to be very good for us.

It's pretty amazing how he looks tentative for 90% of his minutes, but then has 1-2 "holy s___" plays a game that make you wonder why he doesn't do that more.
Yeah it’s quite frustrating actually. Because you see the flashes. Compare that to a mental state of a guy like Shabazz Napier, who Calhoun had to put on the bench at times because of his overconfidence.

It’s not a problem UConn fans are used too.. but I have hope he will show more each season

Great dunk, he has his moments.

One thing that he constantly does that has to piss off the coaches is leave his feet to pass. 2 games in a row where he turned the ball over doing idiotic jump passes without a plan.

With Gaffney and Cole are both playing well, the guard position is extremely solid. They'll need to maintain it in the BET and then the dance. But guard play and defense can carry you far.

He's so good - if he can just maintain confidence and reduce scared passes and dribbles. He is probably a really unselfish, great kid. I love his stroke and obviously the finishing at the rim.

He needs to remember nice guys finish last on the court tho! Doesn't mean you have to be a jerk but a killer on the court!
