J Williams is a HATER

What am I missing? They're 19-12. They were a top-5 pick in the preseason. They don't have a single signature win this season. Why should people be lining up to praise them?

Stop it!

While J Wil is not close to Bilas, he was 1000 percent right about the relaxing on D. He looked like a prophet in the second half.

Its not that he's a hater of Uconn, I'm sorry but he's right. This team lost games this season due to there lack of defense. It's all about playing with passion and heart. And for some reason this team just can not get it done for a full 40 minutes.

seems like everybody is piling on to me, and very few are praising us[/quote]
Frankly, we haven't played well enough to deserve any praise. Nobody doubts our talent just our lack of leadership and committment to play hard for the entire game. We were a top 10 team at the start of the year and barely will make the NCAA tourney.
It is a new season now and we still have a chance to have a good season so it isn't over yet. A win over WVA would be huge for their confidence.

J Williams is an one of the biggest NBA BUSTS of all time not hating just stating a fact

Williams averaged 9.5 ppg and 5 apg his rookie year--definitely a disappointment--before a motorcycle accident ended his career.

Kid had the talent, not the luck.

so after we hold a team to 29% shooting in the 1st half of a game, at HT of the game it's appropriate to say we're not playing good defense? seriously? because our horrific 18-12 record had something to do with that?

and while nobody here axed for any GD praise, the conclusion hate makes people jump to, the truth is the world is piling on

the program is in decline, Calhoun is retiring, a top line coach won't come to UConn, AD & JL going pro and everybody else is going to transfer because they can't play in the tournament next year, they're horrible at 18-12 and 5/6 wins over top 50 teams, team has no leader, team has no heart, team is lazy, they need to run the table in the BET, they have a lot of work to do, they can't compete, they have no chance against Cuse, they don't deserve a bid, they better not get in over a mid-major, UConn is a fragile program ...................................................and when Boatright fakes to Bazz and passes to Lamb it's because "he has no confidence in Bazz"

give me a GD break, there has never been since a major attack on a group of college kids in the history of college sports. One might think their own fans might know better, but evidently not so.

I don't want any praise, I could care less. I just want some objective balance and far less hate.

Yes, but hes still a bust he got hurt by violating his contract, its not like he got hurt playing the game.

I guess I consider a bust someone whose skills were not what the scouts thought them to be, didn't work hard enough to maximize those skills, or whose skills didn't translate to the next level. While Williams had a disappointing first year, I'm not sure he couldn't have turned that around.

He did violate his contract, but I feel bad for him. Accidents like that aren't common. He shouldn't have put himself in violation, but it's not like he was Eddie Curry and pissed away his career.

Jay Williams had a bag of money, $25k in bills, on the table at a restaurant while having dinner with Kevin Love and his AAU coach. At the time, Jay Williams was an agent. He was also a Duke alum. And, Duke was recruiting Kevin Love at the time. I'm not saying there is any connection between all these facts, but if the NCAA is going to come down on fan signs in the stands for visiting recruits, then perhaps it should have looked into this.

I've heard this story before. What is the source?

dude cant even hide it... bias as f*%@
there are a good amount of posters on this board that believe every person in the media qualifies as "a hater" when they criticize UConn in any manner.... even if the criticism is accurate. We have all been complaining about the team's defense (especially perimeter) all year, why is it that when an announcer mentions it he's hating on the team?

because he saying they were playing bad defense when they just held a team to 29% shooting

how is that an accurate statement? sorry his pregame preparation didn't work out for him

its depaul.

And they shot 43.8% from the field for the year, and 53.7% the previous game.

They held DePaul far below their average.

shhhhhh, don't you know we're 19-12, we suck and we can't play D? JWil is right about our defense yesterday

I hope our defense sucks again today

OK, I guess that means they were playing bad defense in that game

there y'all go, I understand now

well "y'all" the point is that a commentator pointing out that UConn doesn't play fantastic D does not make him a hater. It's an inferior opponent who played a terrible game.

Why is it UConn's faul when a team plays well, but the opposing team's fault when they play poorly?

Who's placing any blame here...? No need to twist the argument around - somehow we go from the Jay Will discussion to who's fault a win/loss is - ooook. Anyways don't get all up in arms. I hope the D shuts west va down today, and if they do I'll come on and gladly admit it, since it will apparently make you feel better.
