Well, for the uninitiated, like myself, I prefer IMW over Kaleena Smith as size always contributes more within the UConn system. Players of similar size as Smith, like Hidalgo or Cambridge at tOSU are wonderful but they tend to be less distributor and more ball dominant which is not what UConn does. As @MilfordHusky so eloquently stated “I’ll take another Sarah Strong, please”…as she’s from Maryland and we seem to do well recruiting that area and she can see Sarah thrive in our system, hopefully we are #1 on IMW’s radar…

And as this near Milford’s locale, maybe he can appear at a few of her games wearing all his UConn garb. After all, his other local girl is leaving after this year and he will need a new “neighbor” to cheer on 😉

I like Ivanna's videos, but have not seen her in person. I hope to go by Bullis with @RoadWarrior this season. I will wear my UConn garb. I did see Mir and Saylor in person, but the results were mixed. Azzi, on the other hand, was always my favorite local girl. Coach Scribner's mother told me what a sweetheart Azzi was and how much her teammates (and everyone) loved her. She's been the People's Princess for a long time.

Crystal, Moriah, and a few others small guards did ok at UConn. Give me both guards and Sara this year.

Moriah-resounding YES
Crystal-meh, she did have less than great supporting cast but never really achieved considering her elite ranking in 2016 #3 ranking behind Lauren Cox and Joyner Holmes.

Lauren Cox and Joyner Holmes were less than stellar as well. Maybe you should train your fire on the rankings system rather than on Crystal.

you seem to be misunderstanding my comment as it had nothing to do with the overall rankings. Crystal Dangerfield was a nice player but did not achieve what many of thought she could following Moriah. My comment was geared towards saying Moriah was astounding as Small PG but Crystal Dangerfield was not nearly as accomplished. It’s very very hard for small guards to live up to lofty rankings as they can’t really go inside and in order to truly have an impact they need to super quickness, a great outside shot, tenacious defense and be a great passer with little room for margin. Caroline Ducharme had very high expectations that had we the chance to do it again, Ionescu should have been the sole focus.

  • Ivanna Wilson-Manyacka | 6’1, Junior | Bullis School

  • - Shifting gears to the Wonderland Bracket final, between The Bullis School and Princess Anne High, these young ladies put on a show and I must mention them, here. Ivanna Wilson-Manyacka, though in a losing effort, played like the obvious best player on the court. She is elite in almost every aspect of the game and made it look easy. The entire offensive and defensive bag was on display: a tight handle, lethal jump shot, finishing around the rim with either hand off the dribble drive, leaking out in transition, post-moves, finding teammates, making second level reads with the pass, staying disciplined on defense, great lateral quickness, elite athleticism, competitiveness, want-to. Everything. It is no wonder that she is considered one of the two best players in the country. She played like it.
