Well I mean come on, it's not like we had to go against powerhouse Dayton

I rewatched some tournament games and St. Joes passed the eyeball test to me, Dayton didn't even play that well against Cuse.

Perhaps we caught a break or two, particularly with only having to bring our home whites to the Final Four as a 3 seed. However, when we faced a couple of virtual road games in Anaheim against SDSU and Arizona, it didn't feel easy going in. And when Arizona took Duke behind the woodshed in the second half and did stuff to them which you can only speak of in hushed tones, we weren't exactly all here saying "Wow, what a break! Easy Street from here." The tone was closer to "I'd rather play Duke."

And Arizona was the second best team in that tournament, Kansas be damned.

Agreed. They were a classic senior led team that could have made a nice little run. Regardless, you have to win 6 and I think I saw a few familiar names on the jerseys of the teams that we beat. Beating a 1, 2, 3 and 4 seed and the pre-season favorite seems like a pretty sweet run to me.

Wait this kid in in college, at Cuse now?

HAHAHAHAHAHA wow... internet Cuse fans never fail.

Here he was last night, at 1:30 on a Friday, on a UConn internet forum, talking , probably drunk and alone.
Meanwhile, I'd say around the same time last night/this morning I was passed out after going out and getting my d-ck wet.

But then again, would you bother going out chasing whatever is waddling around Syracuse NY?
Nope, not still at 'Cuse, and certainly never an honors student as someone suggested. Yes however drunk and alone, the GF was away for the night so I got after the Ketel with abandon. In my defense, it was only like 10 o'clock here... Bit surprised Fishy doesn't think I'll be around long here though. From a guy that enjoys pot-stirring as much as him, he may be underestimating the power of not caring too much what other people think of your opinion. As long as this board has uconnball info, and I have to figure out how to kill a work week, I'll attempt to be around. That said, an apology is probably in order, not so much to UcannUrstillab*tch, but just generally so as not to come off as needlessly rude or disrespectful to the board. Pretty amazed how popular the thread grew over the weekend!

What cuse(and other cbb) fans fail to realize is there's a reason for our success. Its leadership we do a better job at grooming leaders than any other program in the country. It may not always lead to championship but it certainly leads to post season success. Kea, caron, ricky, taliek, aj, kemba, bazz none of them showed up as natural leaders. Uconn made them leaders. When I was listening to the pentagon leadership conf the other day with all those d1 coaches and heard izzo basically say those floor leaders are once in a lifetime players I laughed... he doesnt get it. Leaders typically arent born... they are made. And that is the toughest thing to do.. to make a leader out of a cocky 18-21 year old kid.

You should really offer to consult for Izzo. I'm sure he could benefit from your wisdom.

SU is 54-37 all time vs. UCONN.

SU is 37-33 since the BE started & 8-6 in BET games.

Calhoun is .500 against SU. Exactly 27-27

Ollie is 1-0 vs SU and is tied with them with 1 National Championship.

Pretty remarkable how even it is until the NCAA tourney starts.

Only numbers that matter are 4 and 1

Not really.

They matter more than anything else.

But don't tell Calhoun it didn't matter to lose 27 times to syracuse. Or lose in 6 OT game.

The Big East provided an incredible vehicle for its members to showcase their basketball programs..... Most teams made the most of it..... especially Uconn of course with all the NCAA titles.... it certainly elevated Georgetown, Villanova..... it brought PC to a Final 4, and Seton Hall to within a questionable late call of a championship.....

It helped Syracuse as well. But it should have provided much more of a tailwind for them, given the headstart it had on every other team in the conference. Even when the Carrier Dome was built, Syracuse already was featuring the "Louie and Bouie Show" of Louie Orr and Roosevelt Bouie.... they were regionally dominant. I still cannot believe that the program didn't win more in all their years being featured as the darlings of the Big East.

Boeheim deserves credit for lifting the program from what it was to what it has become. But I think history will show that he built the Syracuse basketball program into a very good and solid, yet not great program.

And now to have to be the 3rd guy in to break up the dance in terms of sharing/starting the Duke/UNC rivalry being built up by the ACC conference..... Too bad rivalries have taken a back seat to the money-driven conference alignment.

While we're on the topic, Cuse's top 2014 recruit, Chris McCullough, still doesn't have a qualifying SAT score.

What was the story behind him being expelled from Brewster Academy? I think it's hilarious how much of a non-story that was among Cuse fans. "Nothing to see here, we're too busy taking shots at kids at other schools."

Right on Wonk!!!! KEA RAN the scrimmage on his official visit, and later questioned JC if he was being brought in to back up Ricky Moore. NOT.

KeAanade itt evident he was a leader on his freakin' official visit to Storrs. Bone up on your Husky facts, man.
You win. Ill admit I shouldnt have used him as an example or rm... im 29 I was too young to remember early in their time in the program. It doesnt discount my point but I shouldnt have used them as an example. I believe research suggests 70 percent of leaders are made 30 percent are born...

Really.

All those fancy numbers and stats you posted had to be searched for and copied and pasted. We all know 4 and 1 off the top of our heads. Championships sir.

And the 6 OT was amazing regardless of outcome.

I think they DO matter, though in a slightly different context. The relatively even play over the years lead to a rivalry. And then in the NCAAs, where the real accounting is performed, UCONN absolutely crushed them. The regular season legitimized Syracuse, and the NCAA tournament sunk them in comparison to UCONN>

And the 6 OT was amazing regardless of outcome.

It was amazing while it was going on.

However, I don't even like to think about it now. Still too raw.

Not me. Fine with it. We lost. It happens. Rather it happen in an amazing game to a great team. I'm happy we were a part of that. The 4 makes all those way easier to shrug off.

4, again, only number that matters.

Wow. No UCONN games mattered until '99?

The game was a footnote in a season in which we made the final four. Had Cuse gone on to win the BET, then it would have meant a little more. They lost, got bounced in the sweet 16, while we made a run to Detroit. It's a good game for ESPN Classic, but it was a BET quarterfinal.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure half that list was recruited knowing they had natural leadership instincts.

I was with college buddies in the SU alumn section wearing a UCONN tee. Amazing, but easily one of the most emotionally draining experiences of my life. At the end of the game, not only was everyone on the court spent, but half the spectators, the cool ones at least, were covered in beer and sweat too.

At no point did I say games didn't matter. But ask any player or coach, you play for championships. Above all else that's the point, winning the ones that matter most. All those losses were all made inconsequential by those 4 wins.

We all know it is all about the titles. Any coach or player on any team will tell you that.....

And my guess is any team in America with precious few exceptions would like to trade fortunes with UConn, straight up.

Sadly though, as we all know, I doubt there is a single ADept. in the P5 that would trade fortunes with us. Its a good thing ADept's don't equal championships and fans!

Haha.
This is priceless. A good friend of mine who is a Syracuse grad and worked at ESPN had a meltdown on my Facebook page today when the name Boeheim came up:

"He's the worst---and I've got 30 years of it. He's a terrible game coach---and a total chump. He coaches not to lose---and then does just that. He totally lost it in a game vs. Duke---got two techs when the game was still within reach. Didn't apologize. Bigtime coward and fraud. He's also the guy that lashed out at the victims of Bernie Fine's molestation....not a joke. It happened. Make no mistake--he's the worst. JoPa Lite."
