GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!! I am so pumped for the season. I thought her impact last year was palpable and helped change our team. I suspected that the change in defense came at her urging. She is a force on the bench and a woman of great energy and resolve and a true Husky.

For a time Jamelle let it be known that she was headed in a different direction, but then she was the good soldier and answered the call - still temporary however. I'm guessing that being on the coaching staff washed away the bitter taste left by Cinci's AD and allowed her to reflect and then re-embrace her passion for coaching. She joins the most seasoned staff in Div I. I'm delighted.

Great news indeed. We all saw the positive impact she had on Liv last season. Looking forward to more of that, and also development of Aaliyah and Piath as well as Aubrey and Mir. Heck, I'm sure she will impact all the players who do anything in the post, and that toughness will be a terrific addition.

Additionally, I know she has been seen by BY'ers @MilfordHusky out on the recruiting trail, so obviously hope she excels there as well.

Numerous examples of coaches who left HC jobs to become assistants - Leon Barmore for Baylor and Jolette Law for SC, as 2 examples. Being a HC is just not for everyone...

I am ecstatic at this news. Of course Jamelle is an outstanding, inspirational coach. But my biggest concern is that without her on the bench, we would no longer see those leaping body slams to pump up UConn players, like the time she caught Liv by surprise, almost knocking her over.

So UConn BIGs beware of heading to the bench during timeouts, particularly if you’ve just done something really good on the court. Jamelle will be looking for you.....
