It’s been long enough: no message from Mora

Wait till Monday or Tuesday it's a holiday weekend y'all are getting a bit emotional. If a statement was released this week then it would be "why would you make a statement the week of thanksgiving" or "how phony to release a statement already how phony".
This would make sense if he announced he was leaving last night. The fact that this happened late Monday allows little excuse for not doing this already. Sorry but like others here said, he preached brotherhood, accountability, yada yada. It would have been nice of him to at least send out a thank you message or something of the sort. To me this is rather crappy.

And, sorry, but if u think UConn is a better fb gig than CSU you’re simply mistaken. It should be but it is not.
Can you explain why you think this because I’ve been trying to figure out why this job other than location to home and can’t figure it out. Why is it such a better gig?

nah, either it happens right away or it doesn't happen at all... if we hear something, great but I'm not expecting it

Everyone crucified Edsall 1.0, and rightly so. Why is Mora getting a pass?
Getting a pass? Clearly not by most posters here. JM's leaving was announced maybe 3 days ago, on a holiday week. My sense of Mora is that he's a thoughtful person. I suspect he is planning for the right time to say the right words. Folks here need to have a little faith. If nothing has been said a week from now that's a different discussion.

The only people he owes anything to are the ad and his players. We know he's talked to the ad... Don't know about the players, although I'm guessing not or we would've heard. We should be thanking him for the last two years and not whining about him thanking us. I had all but given up on seeing 18 wins over 2 seasons in my lifetime.

I'm shocked by it and nothing really shocks me anymore. If we were going to get a video thanking the University, players, fans, AD Dave, Hurley, Geno, the state it would've come out right away. Not even a statement from him, it's gross.
The guy has already shown he has no character whatsoever leaving the kids high and dry before a big bowl game. This is just more proof he’s ethically bankrupt. Can’t wait for him to try and take players after his charade over interference. If you hated Edsall for leaving and not taking the ride home with the team, that’s nothing compared to this act of disrespect and disloyalty here.

If he stayed for the bowl game, we'd be late in hiring a replacement and we'd get killed in the portal not knowing who was gonna coach us. Leaving right away is the professional thing to do... Edsall's circumstances were in a totally different environment.

My view

They’re in a conference, which we need to fix yesterday. This independence is just crap - you’re fighting an uphill battle on every front, and the hill gets steeper every year.

Support. The state of Ct is so backwards. Aside from some nice comments from the guv, the approach from the state is pathetic. And the school and its top donors are fixated on being Gonzaga.

The media. What can one say.

CSU is in PAC, has made a significant investment in football, and has publicly said they’ll be a top program.

UConn has never been invested in football. 15-20 years ago we shocked everyone, including the administration. Rather than take advantage of that, we threw it away. We will again.

Because people think just because we have great basketball here, it automatically translates to our football “brand”. It does not. It never has and it’s the reason we keep getting left out in conf realignment in spite of our amazing basketball.

The new PAC is going to be a darn good football conference and will compete with the American as the best G6. Winning the new PAC conference championship will put the winner in a prime position to get the G6 spot in the playoffs and while it’s a long shot, it still gives the team and its fans a chance to win a national championship.

Meanwhile, while our schedule includes a few low level P4 schools, our football program is a lot closer to being in the MAC than it is being in the PAC - meaning we have no chance to make the playoffs and no chance to win a national championship. If we (or any MAC school for that matter) goes 12-0, with the strength of schedule, we will be left out as we would not be the best G6 conference winner and there would be no chance to get one of the 7 remaining at large bids. So yeah, CSU is a better gig.

It is stunning how many fail to understand that the 2025 college football season ends this weekend. The 2026 college football season starts next week.

Is this complicated by teams also being an involved in a post-season? Yes, which makes these changes quite ugly when they occur. Lane Kiffin leaving a playoff team tomorrow in order to take over at LSU should tell you everything about the priority of being there to start from Day 1 of the new season. Mora is missing out on an exhibition game.

The position Mora is leaving UConn in is not missing a bowl game -- it is in (perhaps) not providing UConn with the time to find a new coach in time for the beginning on the 2026. That is a far bigger problem. Keeping momentum going is not just about finding the right coach -- but finding the right coach ASAP.

what do you mean UConn never invested in football?

We invested in Jim Mora, paid him $2.5mm. Increased NIL, increasing the asst coaching pool and increased coaches and the admin team including adding new GM roles. Invested in new stadium lockers at the Rent and have new practice facilities in Storrs.

If UConn didnt invest in football, they’d still be 0-12!
