Is this another "team of the century" year for Duke?!

We get into it with a Florida, we are not allowing a pace that is getting to triple digits. It will be, can you execute in a full shot clock on both ends?
You need to be a little more specific when you say “we”. Are you talking about Duke, Michigan or Arizona??

Purdue was regarded as the best backcourt in country at the start of the season but they don't scare me as much as Duke or Michigan. Arkansas has a good young backcourt but they don't scare me either. I agree AZ's backcourt is a strength. They might be the team to beat. Then again, Michigan beat them and Duke beat Michigan.

If Demary and Ball are good enough to win a championship then they are one of many backcourts that can do so. Certainly AZ and Florida. Even if Michigan and Duke have weaker backcourts, their front court makes up for it.
When did Michigan beat Arizona? Two losses - Texas Tech at home and at Kansas.

All three have strong frontcourts. It is rare for a championship team to be great at every position.
I’m aware, but a strong backcourt is more important than a strong frontcourt in march, if any fanbase should realize that it’s UConn’s. Purdue has 2 good players they aren’t an exception to the rule they just aren’t that good.

I'm no Scheyer fan, but in his first three years, he's gotten to a F4 and an Elite 8. I would say that's pretty good, no matter what the resources and league. And now he has the top overall seed. Results do matter and I'd call those pretty good.
I think Duke fans have been pretty disappointed with the tourney results given expectations especially last year

I love seeing Duke "has" the overall No. 1 seed in present tense, as if the season is over. Why play the games?

This is hilarious, RuffRuff is now 100% all in on Duke. We're a couple days away from him saying this is one of the greatest college basketball teams of all time.
Until Carolina upsets them. Then the goldfish will find something new

I was hoping Duke would take a step back after Coach K retired but I have to give Scheyer credit for keeping them a recruiting juggernaut. But until they win a title, it will not mean much historically.
Thanks for the jinx.

Again, look at their numbers. Flagg was 17. Boozer is a man.

Someone tell me what made Flagg a better college player, with some numbers behind it. I don’t need subjectivity of this boards “experts”. Like the ignoramus uconngb.
A guy who uses names before forming a counter, because he doesn’t like an opinion on a thread discussing Duke.
This place is getting pretty rowdy. What happened to decorum? Btw, I have to announce that all my posts are patently absurd and I am FOS. So please take no offense!

Am I? Or am I just taking a peak under the hood? I'd never say that, because they aren't - they do have some very clear strengths that will be hard to handle.

I think Boozer and Flagg are really close. Flagg projects better in the NBA due to the wing archetype being more valuable and scalable, but I think I'd take Boozer for his one year in college.

They're playing a pretty similar big playmaking role in the same offense, with almost the exact same usage, assist, and turnover rates. Their shooting from deep is similar, both in accuracy and frequency. Flagg was a little better at the foul line, but Boozer is way above average and drew a higher rate.

Boozer is much better at getting his own offense than Cooper. Flagg struggled in clutch because he didn't have a ton of wiggle, and his handle is still a work in progress. Boozer's ability in the post is relatively much more polished. He's an insane finisher, and his playmaking, skill, and savvy prevents him from being successfully doubled. I don't know how many And-1s he's had on the season, but it's a crazy amount.

Boozer is also a better rebounder. His combination of power and agility is elite. Flagg was a better rim protector, but the Duke defense is just as good this season with Boozer and his steal rate is actually higher than Flagg's.

So yeah, it's close. But Boozer's ability to get buckets at the highest of levels is more important than Flagg's defensive edge.

Yup - totally agree. Paragraph 3 is really what separates the two. Boozer has such good hands and balance. Flagg better pro, Boozer better 1 year college player. There is a maturity about Boozer that solidifies this Duke team.

He’s pretty much already there. Sucking up to Coach K kinda puts it over the edge.

Duke beats current projected 9 seed NC State on the road by 29.

Boozer with 26 points on 10 shots (!) with 9 rebounds and 3 assists.

They just hit +40 adjEM. Only 1 team ever has finished the season higher than 40 ('99 Duke).

We were much closer to Duke in 1999 than we are this year. Boozer is better than Flagg and the type of player that can carry a strong supporting cast to a championship.
