Is the debate over who the greatest coach in college basketball is?

College Basketball Report is for the dumbest of the dumb. Great they put Hurley #1, that doesnt change that fact.

Hurley is in fact the best college hoops coach and 2nd place isnt close. The rug doctor? hahahahahahaha.

But no one should EVER give CBR ANY oxygen. They really are for the brain damaged.

Is there any doubt who the most recognized name in college basketball is anymore?

Jeopardy question: “Name the school whose coach turned down $70 million to remain as the men’s basketball coach”

whole lotta mediocrity in there.

#2 isn't close. That's a fact. Looking back on Kelvin winning coach of the year now looks like the Jethro Tull rock album of the year Grammy win.

*(note: I personally will take 'Crest of a Knave" over any Metallica record. But that's besides the point)

It was heavy metal album of the year (which is what caused the controversy). Ian Anderson stated they didn't attend because they thought the committee notified them of the nomination in error.

No Kim English? Then what have I been reading on the Boneyard for the past year?
He's a better coach than Scheyer at this point in his career, but he coaches a team nobody cares about so he has that working against him.

I would take Hurley but there is still a very reasonable case to say Self. The crazy thing on this list is Pope, what has he done to warrant inclusion in the top 50 let alone the top 25? He seems like a nice enough guy but he had one real decent season at BYU. The KY colored glasses are strong on this list
Remind me how many tourney games Pope won in his career?

If we lost Hurley, I wanted to go get Sean Miller. I think he’s the best coach without a natty and he’d get one at UConn. I don’t know where I’d put Miller and McDermott on the list, but both are very, very high.

Self has won two national titles and won the Big 12 regular season like 15 straight years. The battle for #1 is between him and Hurley.

Self has earned a huge asterisk due to his gratuitous cheating.

Shaka criminally underrated
If we go on results Hurley of course tops Shaka….. Shaka is very well likely a future very very good coach. Greatness is an unknown. There are few Woden’s, Calhoun, some would add few Szewshewshesski ( Duke Boy), Dean Smith, Rupp, Etc

Everyone cheats. Only some get caught.

No. There was a level of cheating going on pre-NIL that was excessive. There is no way for anyone to reasonably claim that the transgressions of Self, Miller, UNC, Duke and others were typical. They weren’t. They committed egregious violations that most programs did not commit, nor would they have gotten away with had they tried.

In what universe is Mark Pope #23??? If we're going by potential, sure, have him that high. If we're actually going by results and accomplishments the guy doesn't even sniff the top 50. Having him above the likes of Shaka and Cronin is so insane that it honestly invalidates the whole list.
