Can the board stop taking shots at Syracuse?

To be the goat you have to put a team on your back and take them to a chip. Thats the standard. Kemba is the goat

Title says it all. He would obviously be the only UConn player with three rings. Flip side is he would (likely) be, for each of the three titles, a complimentary 2nd or 3rd scorer apart of a deep and balanced team.
Not even close. How many UCLA guys have three?

  • UCLA (1967–1973 era): Almost all of the players who have achieved this came from John Wooden’s UCLA dynasty.
    • Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) – 3 titles (1967, 1968, 1969). Freshmen were ineligible, so he couldn’t have won 4.
    • Lynn Shackelford – 3 titles (1967, 1968, 1969).
    • Curtis Rowe – 3 titles (1969, 1970, 1971).
    • Henry Bibby – 3 titles (1970, 1971, 1972).
    • Larry Farmer – 3 titles (1971, 1972, 1973).

There must have been guys on UCLA with four rings in four years. End of discussion.

UCLA guys could have had 16 wins in the toy poodle tournament in the 60s.
Three rings now equal 18 wins.

Most decorated but not GOAT. Would have to be AA at least one season to really be considered. I think the point Hurley makes regularly about not winning until Alex arrived is important though. What he does in terms of BBIQ, shooting, and connective tissue is so important.

I’ve said this before, but for some reason I can see Karaban coming back to be the UConn Head Coach in 20 years.
He can high five HC Dan Orlovsky and HC Diana Taurasi walking thru the athletic department

Oh and HC George Springer.

I dont know the other sports well enough to name names

What I would have said about Alex has been stated by a bunch already in this thread.

I do agree that it’s always a good time to clown on Cuse…

I’ll just add another potential derail by saying I absolutely hate when people call National Championships “chips”

Most decorated player, yes.
Best Husky ever, no.
This is so obvious .. winning three championships is marvelous and he has helped a bit in the first, quite a bit in the second and quite likely quite a bit if he wins number three but at no time did I ever feel he was the go to guy on that specific team ... he has gotten closer as he got further into his UConn career but he was never the Caron or Ray or Rip ... he was a really solid and critical member but not THE MAN ... there's nothing wrong with that and we have been lucky to have him

If he's the leading scorer or highest analytics guy on a title team, then yes.

Simple comp is Breanna Stewart. 4 years, 4 nattys. The GOAT on the women’s side or would some go with Dianna or Sue or others?

Also I bemoan a single GOAT because positions differ in stats so when someone pops off on Jordan who was a shooting guard vs LeBron a forward it calls for positional GOATs.

If AK gets a third natty it is interesting but 7 is what we will talk about.

He would have one more than Laettner

Not to derail the thread too much but imagine Clingan playing all four years like Laettner did. He's really the comparison to Laettner at UConn, IMO.
