Everytime that I watch his team play, they always seems to fall into the same traps every season....GA has some very good players that need better coaching IMHO. I feel sorry for them......They had more talent than ST Joe's, but SJ's got every loose ball in the second half and every critical rebound.

UOG has too much pride to allow another sub par season to go by the board and not make changes....

The GA team has not performed up to their talent level for years, particularly in tournaments. If the AD hasn't made a change by now, I don't imagine there will be one in the near future. To his credit, Landers has over 840 lifetime wins.

Agree. BUT taking a page from tOSU, their AD fired Foster after umpteen years as the head coach and brought in a younger and more dynamic leader who landed the top recruiting class in the nation in his 2nd year at the helm. Georgia could certainly do worse than Landers, but they also could do much better.

Landers and Perreta are my exhibit A for the difference between the men's game and the women's game in the eyes of athletic departments, trustees and university presidents. Without passing judgment on whether or not this is a bad thing, there is no way at either UG or Villanova the men's coach would have been retained for these many years. Landers has done less with more for many years now when he had every chance to build teams that would be competing successfully more often with Tennessee and the occasional other good SEC teams. And Perreta's style won't sniff being truly nationally competitive. A nice win here or there doesn't add up to longevity on the men;s side. But their universities must think what they are doing is good enough, and if that is their philosophy, okay, but it does say a lot about their view of the women's sport.

IMHO YES. However with that said, Georgia's athletic department is probably happy that his teams reach the tournament on an annual basis and that's enough to keep his job. There's something wrong with Georgia's program as not one of the elite HS players coming out of Georgia in the last 4 or 5 years are signing with them. IF you can't recruit the elite players in your own State and you're supposed to be an elite program, there's something wrong. Georgia produces enough elite players that if Andy was able to sign a couple of them every other year or so, they would be a Top 10 program and be competitive for a National Championship. He couldn't sign Kaela Davis and Diamond DeShields last year, when they became disenfranchised with the Lady Vols.

You mean the guy that didn't know Kelly Faris was a good basketball player? Way past his prime.

But I can understand why he says that they haven't considered it in their "best interest" to schedule UConn in recent years. Recruiting of elite athletes isn't helped by 40-point losses, even to UConn.

Yes, it's time for Andy "Brylcream" Landers to retire. Georgia fans don't show for either bball team and they play in a very old and small arena.

Landers use to get some Top recruits.........But not now. Summit and Tennessee use to take his lunch with recruits whenever they wanted to. Now its the whole nation raiding Georgia talent. Andy really hasn't kept up with the times and is losing ground fast. Even Georgia Tech is beating him for Elite recruits. I won't go so far as to say its time for him to leave because he still is a good coach , but it might be time for him to re-assess his recruiting style and efforts....JMHO

Seems like we have this thread every year. . . and Andy endures.

I'm not sure Women's hoops is all that important at UGa. Andy's level of achievement
has fallen off in recent years, but his teams are at least respectable.

My guess is that if they haven't fired him by now, they'll probably let him hang around
until he wants to retire.

Not a bad record; certainly not bad enough to lose his job. They're attendance is so bad, it's amazing anyone wants to play there. Most schools with that type of record should be top 15-20 in attendance and they were 31st.

We were at the GA-St. Joe's game at Gampel last night. I was blown away by the fact that GA essentially gave up with about two minutes left in the game and down by 6 or 7. Landers sat on the bench with his arms folded and coached no more. So much can happen in the last two minutes down by a few. They did not foul, press or anything. Just gave up. Shameful.

Nope. Gosh no. It is true that he is up there in age. But if his desire and passion is there to coach, you gotta let the man coach. Last night, the Lady Bulldogs just could not make a basket. When they did tie the game up and managed to pull ahead by a point or two, you could see that they (Lady Bull dogs) were spent. To me, when I see a coach having several down years, then I say it is time to pull the plug. But when you are getting 20-25 wins a season and finishing in the top half of your conference, you deserve a little slack. You have earned that perk. I just think that this was a game where the St. Joe's Lady Hawks shots were falling and when that happens, you just hope that they shoot themselves out. It did not happen and now coach and the Lady Bulldogs are at home going fishing. They will be back next season.

Andy Landers joins some famous coaches that are good recruiters but lousy game coaches! He still gets some good athletes but can't coach his way out of a paper bag! Others, Sylvia Hatchell, Jim Foster, Gail Goestenkors, C. Vivian Stringer, Holly Warlick is quickly joining this group, Nell Fortner, all have great name recognition but no talent with the x's & o's to back it up!

I know, I don't have to read this dribble. Has it come down to the BY asking that a certain coach loses their job and repeats and repeats ? Really ?? Hope no-one says that about you or me ,
right ??

Lets see how ST Joe's plays against UCONN tonight. The open shots and rebounds against GA will disappear tonight. I expect the game to be close for 5 minutes then UCONN will open the gate and run away.......Too much talent, too long and so much better shooters for ST Joe's to guard........See you in Philly next week...
