Boatright is extremely quick and as a result, hard to stay in front of. The downside is that because he's so small, he had trouble finishing in the paint. His decision making had been superb since the start of the conference tourney; he seems to kick it out to the open shooter more often now, and only shoot when under control or likely to draw a foul. Napier is our rock, similar to your DeAndre Kane. He has an extremely quick trigger; when his shot is on, it's almost impossible to keep him from hitting 3s, as he'll fake the drive and step back for the jumper, or just take it from beyond NBA range. Also has terrific court vision.
As for our big men, Amida Brimah is our center and far and away our best option at the position. He's long and athletic as a 7-footer and as a result, a very good shot blocker. He's still young though, so at times he will go to block the shot he really has no business blocking and leaves the lane wide open for an easy put back. All in all, though, as a freshman he's playing his best basketball of the year. Solid rebounder and a pretty decent post up game that's improving every day.
DeAndre Daniels is our starting PF, although he's more of a stretch 4. He's pretty good at posting up and hitting the short jumper, or catching the ball 15 feet out and taking his man off the dribble. Very good 3 point shooter, although his post game is very hot and cold. Pretty good rim protector; when we face smaller lineups like I suspect yours is now, he has the length to slide over to the 5.
Other random notes...
Niels Giffey is our glue guy. A 6'7 senior, he can do it all: great defender, terrific 3-point shooter (he's 2nd on the country in 3pt shooting %), can handle well enough to fill in at the 2, and is tough enough down low to play the 4, or even the 5 against smaller lineups.
Lasan Kromah is a 5th year transfer who is probably our best one-on-one defender. Decent 3-point shooter, and can take it to the rack fairly well if he's not closely guarded. I suspect he'll see a lot of time on Kane.
Terrance Samuel is a 6'4 backup freshman PG. Great defender, I'd say just a hair below Kromah, and his biggest strength offensively is his ability to break you down off the dribble and get into the paint, where he is strong enough to finish well or kick out to an open shooter. Doesn't average many minutes per game, although he came in our last game against Nova when Shabazz had 2 fouls and got us back in the game with terrific defense. I suspect he'll see a lot of the court Friday.
All in all, our strength is defense. If we're able to keep Kane out of the paint (tall task, I know), I think you guys have a hard time scoring. A bit worried about our ability to rebound as well . Either way, should be a fun game.
