Tennessee played three of the final four and beat them all (split with MS).
Code:
Stanford 12/18/16 59-51
Miss St. 01/08/17 64-74 (loss)
So, Caro. 01/30/17 76-74
Miss St. 02/26/17 82-64
So UCONN must win the next two games or Tennessee will be able to say sheesh we would have beat UCONN for the national title.

Well after the last couple of seasons, they need something to hang on to.

If it wasn't TN, it would be sad. (but because it is TN, it's hilarious :D)

For what it's worth, they also beat #1 seed ND this year.

On the flip side, Tennessee against non-Final Four teams went 17-11 with 6 (I believe) of those losses coming to non-Tournament teams.

They might take the title for the most up and down team we've ever seen.

Nice post! Thanks

Sure, ...and since Alabama has defeated UTenn twice this season (and the last 3 times they've met)... I'm sure UTenn fans would agree that would make Alabama our new National Champion.

And... UConn beat 5 of the elite 8 and 9 of sweet 16.

Elite 8:
Oregon
ND
FSU
SC
Baylor

Sweet 16:
Same as elite 8 plus:
UCLA
Maryland
OSU
Texas

yes Tennessee did beat three FF teams.

"Well isn't that nice? You kids should make a tee shirt up, or maybe just a nice hat!"

The most erratic I can recall. Their highs were very high; their lows were inexplicably abysmal.

They are already saying it. But, no matter. "You are only as good as your last game."

Real question appears to be, " Is Tenn a Top 25 team?" Until they are more consistent, this conversation doesn't warrant discussion in Final 4 or even Sweet 16 talk.

Why would we talk this thread even if they ended the year ranked? I think the last Orange colored team is out of the tourney and we should talk the "Black Shirts", the crimson and black and whatever color the Trees are

Tennessee win over SC & ND was a Fluke. I was hoping they had beat Bama and UK in the SEC tourney but they were too inconsistent to do so. Smh

They're missing consistency but clearly have been a consistent Sweet 16 team (made it every year prior under Holly). They have been in the Elite 8 for 3 of the 5 years so they warrant discussion of Final Four talk whether they've gotten there or not.

Holly has had quite similar tournament results to Kim Mulkey and Baylor in that regard since 2013 even if Kim's teams have consistently been top 4-5 before bowing out early. The only difference is that Kim has taken her team to the promised land and won it all twice.

Consistency wise they obviously have a long way to go but they have shown glimpses of elite potential even if they can't sustain it. It's worth mentioning because if they were able to play consistently which I do think they'll be much better about next year, they could be back in the top 10.

That would be Cardinal.

The trees are usually, but not always green.

If by the trees you meant the basketball team sorry to be picky but this is the Internet :) — the tree is the mascot for the band not for the team. The team should be called the Cardinal (note the lack of an S, it's the color not the bird).

Can someone remind me when they were last in the Final Four?
If this is UCONN's 10th year in a row, hasn't it been 9 years?
