You would think if there was a fanbase that realizes you don't win National Championships or even know what your tournament potential is in January.. it would be this one, but I guess people have some damned short memories.

Orrrrrrr, perhaps the fanbase recognizes what a championship team looks like. I recall the chief complaints last year being the a need to play consistent defense and find someone to.take some of the burden of Kemba.

That clearly came together in the postseason and whadddyaknow?

Its the difference between potential and execution. 2006 being the prime example of the former without the latter.

Nope, they're just stupid.

Its OK, if/when this team makes a run this year, many of us will simply "forget" that we had given up on the team and pretend it didn't happen, just like last year, and will continue to believe that we have an awesome fan base.

Yup, they'll bring out the Charlie Sheen sigs/avatars, talk about "WINNING", and be the usual frontrunning fan that they are, and act like they didn't make posts saying Calhoun should retire and the game has passed him by, or that the team doesn't care.

yeah wheres all the mojo and charlie winning pics now? bunch of fairweather fans. i still believe.

We seem to be pretty spoiled and feel entitled also. In addition luck in the tourney is almost as important as talent/skill (it wins and loses close games many times). Can't do much when an opponent 3 point heave goes in to win the game. Not sure if lady luck will visit us again this year, but we will need her that's for sure.

Bottom line: Championships are rare and not guaranteed, no matter how talented and well coached you are.

it's obvious that many have not been down this path before. We've been here so often it's actually what I've come to expect it. Jim Calhoun teams peak sometime in Feb, maybe even Mar, but never ever in Jan

how many times does it have to happen before some "fans" figure it out?

some of the best examples?
2011 of course
2004, remember one writer awarding him the worst coach of the year award?
2002, unranked until mid Feb, don't lose again until the Elite Eight led by underclassman
2005, JC calls CV the most overrated player he ever coached, averaged 20 & 12 beginning in Feb. Team was decimated by the time madness began
2008, 2003, 2002 each and every year we have a bad stretch in Jan/Feb. It's just a fact of life

and this happened throughout the 90's too

Prior to the Big East Tournament, there was no sign that things were going to come together. None. Anyone who claims there was is lying through their @^*&ing teeth.

You know what, it might not come together this year. Or, it could. We'll see.

Maybe if your memory is really short you remember the St. Louis Cardinals from October. If you've got some sort of disorder... look at who is playing in the Super Bowl in two weeks. One of those teams was dead and buried twice this season.

There was a couple of signs that the team was special but maybe you missed them:

1.) Maui
2.) The fact that we hadn't lost to anyone out of conference
3.) We had Kemba Walker who was spectacular all year and we saw the emergence and talent of Jeremy Lamb early on especially his coming out party at Marquette.

People could have easily written 3-point lists last year at this time explaining why we weren't going to make the NCAAs.

Things can change. It looks grim now but it ain't over.

NY Giants? Last year's Packers?

Better. The Giants will win and beat the Patriots again and Eli will get the respect he deserves. Bill Belichik and Tom Brady had cold sweats when they found out Eli and the Giants were going to see them again in the Super Bowl lol.
