Ines in the transfer portal

Dang! Like others have said, sad to see Ines go. Ines improved her game over the summer and put in the work in the weight room. Great body language on the court even when sitting on the bench. She always supported the team. I am wishing Ines all the best on her future plans.

Not everyone is going to be Brianna Pulido. Good luck, Ines. Find your dreams.
Wasn't Brianna a walk on? I imagine that she never expected to get anything more than a few garbage minutes and have fun while enjoying the ride.

I would hope there are one or two more to be added via the portal! Maybe that Princeton point guard?
Only 1 available scholarship left.

.-.
I would think that there are 2 scholarship spots available.
I don't think so. Remember Sara Strong is taking up one of the available scholarships.

Geez without any injuries we're already down to 13 players.
I’m counting on the refresh button to change that

Two now available. Sarah was 15, now down two from Saturday. I’d love to be a fly on Geno’s wall right about now.

Considering Ayanna and Ice as redshirt sophomores, our junior class for 2024-2025 has officially left the building.

Best wishes Ines. This season undoubtedly caused you great frustration and anxiety, but all we saw from you was encouragement and positivity. That took great character. I hope you find a program where the players on the bench are cheering as hard for you as you did. There are such programs out there for you, I am sure.

ohhh the realities of big time college sports...........another great teammate who will have a chance to catch on with a program where she can show her stuff........I'm sure Geno will put in the good word for Ines and Amari as they seek better opportunities......
100% agree. Ms. Bettencourt had two years to learn the game from a Hall of Fame coach, and play against Paige and other top flight performers in practice. That will serve her well wherever she goes. I would suspect both are leaving on good terms, and Geno has already given them advice on their futures.

With Ines the port, who I will miss, things might just get interesting. Mmmmm

Iirc, Sarah is taking AE's spot on the roster since she could have stayed another year. I could be wrong, need to see the Schollie chart!

There’s 2 available with the two transfer departures
You are correct. For some reason I was thinking there were only 14 scholarships allowed.

Yeah, she was. But she stayed despite knowing she would get few minutes. Each has to make their own decisions. Ines will land somewhere good for her after 2 years learning in the UConn system.

I wish her luck and hope she finds a place to play. She came to UConn on the last day to register for school because of Paige's injury. Ines put in the work and played as hard as she could. She showed last year that she was up to do the job as a sub, and starter when needed. I will miss her smile and support that she showed all season.

Ines filled a spot when we were really in a jam for players. Thank you very much for coming and good luck!
And did outstanding for being thrown into high major D1 basketball in her freshman year. As I've noted previously, she looks like she put in a ton of work in the off-season. I think she could be a real nice pick up for the right program.

Sad, because I felt she could have contributed this year, helping the team.
If it had turned out she contributed this coming year, that would have meant another year with a ton of serious injuries. Otherwise she was lined up to be 14th or 15th in the rotation.

Always to be remembered / appreciated for her turn coming off the bench cold in her first year, in a ridiculously tough spot as the emergency point guard, and performing exceptionally well (all things considered) v Princeton, then starting v Maryland.

Seems a quite talented guard, of whom would liked to have seen more (seems a theme). Hopefully, like Amari, finds a program that appreciates her talents, offers a commensurate opportunity. Will be watching...

I wish nothing but the best for Amari and Ines hope they both find a school that appreciates them as much Uconn does ! They are wonderful athletes and even better teammates. Ines has showed quite a bit of improvement over the last couple of years. Now Geno we need at least one more center !!!!!!! And a quick defensive guard or small forward ! I hope Geno invites them both to the final 4 next season .

Ines- thank you so much for turning on a dime and coming here after Paige's injury...! You contributed and were loved by everybody. You will be richer for your UCONN experience and wherever you choose to go they will be getting a solid person, player, and someone who will make a big positive impact...! All the very, very, best to you young lady.

????? We had 15 on scholarship before today, we lost 2 today: Amari and Ines so we have 2 available unless you know something not yet announced regarding the roster.

Re the roster moves since Saturday, I think our HOF coach knew quite a bit more than he let on. I think he knew he was going to have at least 2, and maybe up to 4, scholarships open up. I also believe that he knew that Sarah was coming but got her to hold off her announcement until at least one opening could be confirmed, so that it was clear that he had a scholarship available for her. I also suspect that Geno knew that it was a strong possibility that Ines and Amari would be looking for schools where they could get off the end of the bench, hence his continuing to recruit even with Sarah in the fold.

JMHO, but I think this answers all the questions about why SS was holding back on making her choice public. His remaining 13 players make for a difficult group to crack for anyone else to get playing time, but he and the staff do have something else to offer; being part of a team with a real shot at winning a National Championship and who wouldn't want to be part of that and have that as part of their resume?
