Strange list. Disagree with seven of the top ten.

Is it odd I have only seen a couple of these movies? I don't watch movies often, as I don't have the time to, but am a huge movie fan

Hard to believe that Patton didn’t make the list. Favorite of mine. George C Scott won an Oscar as did the picture.

Caddyshack? Maybe I didn't scroll far enough.

I will say Shawshank is a movie that I legit always stop on and finish if I'm channelsurfing.

Interstellar should not be on the list at any number. It's a very medoicre movie.

As an aside, you rarely see Ben Hur on any of these top ten lists. Yet the movie was the landmark in size, scope and spectacle, it saved literally the movie studio, won dozens of awards, and the chariot scene (and you could say the same for the naval battle) set a standard for action pieces that still stands up to the very best today.

Interstellar is in my top 10.
Most Christopher Nolan stuff is for me.

Who would have imagined that a film rating site would skew towards nerdy film buffs?
but it's not skewed towards film buffs. no actual film buff would have 2 lord of the rings and the dark knight in the top 10 greatest movies of all time. it's an objectively bad list if you consider it the greatest movies ranked, but a decent list of generally good movie recommendations.

if anyone is looking for a good list of the best movies, ranked, they should check out the american film institute top 100 AFI’s 100 YEARS…100 MOVIES

I’d say it’s equally a problem with whatever methodology AMI used if Shawshank doesn’t make their top 100.

I thought the reveal of The Prestige was awful.

And The Sting is great. No way there's 100 better movies than that one.

The problem with that list is its only American movies, and skews heavily towards the classics.

For the cinephiles TSPDT is the list: TSPDT - The 1,000 Greatest Films (By Ranking)

The IMDb list is good for fans (at least those that our prone to rate movies on IMDB) as I believe it ranks per ratings. I like that it gives credence to some of the under the radar movies like Harakiri and Come and See.

Because no one list rules them all, I actually use a list aggregate site: All movies - iCheckMovies.com

True. You should start a what is your favorite movie thread
No favorites. But many more people watched “Deepthroat” than most of that list.

I remember an older kid explaining it to me. "The thing is" he tells me "her **** is in her throat!"
I said "What's a ****?
Actually, I didn't. I laughed and pretended I knew what he was talking about.
