Illinois Post Game Thread

Another good one from tonight - this one alone is a UConn Mt Rushmore - Kemba, Rip, Emeka & Ray.

EDIT: sorry, this is from 2023

Maybe we are not that bad. I know we have no chance on Monday but we looked competent in stretches against Illinois.

In seriousness, while I did not expect this to happen, I have consistently said all year long that while we can play poorly, we can also beat any team any day of the week when we play well. Not really going out on a limb there given who we did beat this season. The funny thing is we can apparently beat any team without playing all that well offensively.

Kenny Smith made some great points about the UConn system. The staff knows who to go after and how to coach them up. And our teams are clutch. I once heard someone explain that being clutch doesn't mean you play better under pressure; it means you keep playing your game when others wilt under the pressure.

Wow. Quite a performance. We missed a ton of layups, credit Illinois bigs for making us rush. Wagler is a heck of a player, but I’m not sure I’ve seen anybody get away with more push offs. He’s an offensive foul machine. We got a few calls. They got a few. Some big clutch shots from multiple guys. Defense continues to be underrated. We made things really hard for them.

Zona's guards are much better - Krivas is much more stout, Peat plays a more traditional and explosive 4.

I'm honestly not sure.

Line on this one flipped to Zona, interesting.

Part of me likes that UM hasn't seen us, and that Mara is flimsy in the torso, Tarris can move him.

I think Zona's guard would give us a REALLY hard time about now.
Krivas has 5 lbs on Mara and is an inch shorter. How is Johnson not a traditional 4? I think Yaxel would be giving us a hard time the whole game. Agree the backcourt is their weakness.
