Excellent post. Thank you. It's good to see they are allowed to act their age and just enjoy their time in the spot light. The intellect is obvious. These young women are credit to their team, coaches and school. I say this meaning the whole team, when given the opportunity.

One of many good reasons never to listen to athletes being interviewed. The last Husky I found informative was Kia Nurse. who once used the word "kerfuffle" in an interview, bless her erudite soul.
Oh, and, of course, we love Lobo (TV show possibilities: "I Love Lobo").
Sometimes a player's "brand" should be applied physically and left at that: "Show me your brand." "Here it is." Enough.

Someone on the team comes up with a word for postgame interviewees to try to work into her answer to a question. It’s an inside team joke that’s the source of some hilarity - and sudden flashes of eruditeness - in postgame interviews

Far be it from me to correct @HuskyNan, and at serious risk of being banned, isn't the word erudition? 🤓

I'll get my coat - it's the one with a dictionary in the pocket...

It didn’t sound right in my head but I did look the word up before posting it

Wow!. I stand corrected. There's a reference in the OED - Down here we speak close to the King's English (the language formerly known as the Queen's English), albeit with a strange accent - dating back to the 1830s:

Fun fact: When I visit the states people think I'm English; when I visit England people think I'm Australian. Neither is true!

I return you to your regular programme...

It's good that folks are interested in words, especially on a site inviting comments. The late Kibitzer (not English, so sometimes spelled Kibbitz) made a consistent effort to improve vocabulary and grammar on the Boneyard with mixed results. It was noble and important. The reason people have limited vocabularies is that they don't read enough to come across words that might be useful to them. When you use a precise term, you demonstrate ownership of it. You also get to demonstrate that you are an educated person for whom words are at your service.
I'd be content if most of us knew the difference between "me" and "I."
Did anyone check out "kerfuffle"? I doubt that Kia used it as a gag; let's give the girl credit.
