I think a Thread Title of "Ice is Arriving" is more accurate. As pointed out, there are a couple of lingering issues and they are the hands and also forces or other bad passes. Last year in the BE tourney it was different. She had 3 turnovers in 3 games and 0 turnovers, 8 boards and 13 points in the Finals. When a player doesn't hold on to a pass or rebound it may not be counted as a turnover but anytime there is a reasonably greater chance of changing a possession than it staying with a team and it doesn't happen, it has the same effect as a turnover.

She is more athletic than she has been, has more confidence and is a smarter player. Very true that no player ascends in a straight line, there are speed bumps and depressions ( the physical kind) in the roadway. She is not a very dominant or prolific rebounder thus far and that can improve with technique alone. Bill Russell said he got most of his rebounds before the shot was even taken. What did he mean? Position and knowing the likely direction of the bounce of a missed shot. Same for Rodman who actually stuidied the misses of players on the other team.

As a practical matter, we need her to grow, mature and improve every game as she is doing and the same is true for Jana who has the killer mentality on the floor to be sure. Ice has 2 more years and Jana has 3. Add Sarah into the mix and you have enough in the front court to get to the Promised Land. And then there are Aubrey and Ayanna. In a pinch, Paige can always play the 4. Lol. The present and future are both very bright and if you really think about the alternative, a lot of that is due to Ice's development.

Am I noticing a trend? Sarah seems to be developing a synergy with all her teammates. IMHO I think Sarah may have the same impact on the Huskies that Aliyah Boston had with SC.
I can't necessarily speak to Sarah developing synergies with all of her teammates, I was watching specifically for her interactions with Ice. However I would not doubt your idea and will be more mindful of watching her in future games. And I certainly hope you are correct when it comes to her impact.

Rather than Ice in particular, I'm thrilled with all 3 posts so far.

Sarah actually better than expectations. No problem adjusting to college, or a big time away game. Wow.

All 3 are big, athletic, mobile, and can shoot 3, forcing defense to come to perimeter.

Geno is playing all 3 at both 4 and 5 spot, so if any foul trouble we can just go with anyone. Starting won't matter much as plenty of minutes for these 3.

Of course we still have Ayanna and our emergency forwards, too.

After years of being shorthanded in the post, it's great to now have a solid rotation.

Ice reminds me a little of Kiah Stokes.

My guess is that both Kiah and Ice must not have had to polish their footwork in high school as they were both so physically gifted.

Against UNC, i saw Ice moving much better especially on defense and her stamina seemed much better. But, in my opinion, the UNC guards helped her out because they couldn’t/didn’t feed the post much.

And Ice’s improvement can absolutely give Jana the opportunity to adjust to the college game so we can have the luxury of 2 bigs.
A little over the top here. Kiah was, imo, the best rebounder and shotblocker we’ve had for decades. If Ice develops like that, I’d be thrilled, and amazed, as she hasn’t really shown that talent yet. I do think Ice is advanced on the offensive side though. Decent shooter, and improving, and showing decent passing skills.

The gist of my comment was that it takes time to develop a big who could overwhelm her high school competition. It was not that Ice and Kiah are twins.

Ummm I agree with most of ur post but their 3 pt shooting is still a work in progress, but I believe it will get alot better as they get deeper in the season....fingers crossed.

Let's hope she has arrived, but one better than avg. games does not define an "arrival"
I still think she is slow reacting to the ball on rebounds, even if she boxes out those people grab the ball above her.

UNC’s 2 leading rebounders were a guard and a wing. Their 6-5 Thomas, 6-4 Toomey, and 6-3 Gakdeng had a combined 5 rebounds; Ice would have bodied those players up. Ice did her job well vs UNC.
