This season is on the players AND the coaches, Calhoun included.

This isn't like the NBA where you can roll the ball on the court and say go. They need effective in game coaching. Would we have been a top 5 team if JC were healthy all year? Doubt it. But would we have at least 2 more wins? IMO yes.

Those 2 wins would be hugeeeee right now.

Don't forget, everything about UConn and its players right now is terrible. They never give effort. Just disregard the facts so you can spout your entitled opinions.

Sometimes people are just pathetic, it seems every time we lose we aren't playing hard, if it happens once in a season it must happen in every loss I guess. Seems everyone quickly forgot these are the same kids who were major cogs on a national title team last season.

Boatright in what 5 BE games also, and JC hurtin....yeah it makes a difference.....but you're right there needed to be some flexibility with this team on both ends of the court coachin-wise

UCONN needs to file a complaint with the Big East and ask for an explanation on the technical. Was Drummond supposed to ask for permission before handing the ball over the ref?
Im sure Uconn wont get more then a 10 word apology e-mail saying it wasnt a technical.

We can't shoot the three and we can't defend the three. Rebounding has been a problem in key situations. We need guys that can shoot. the game has changed, the 3 point line has become a weapon in College ball and we have not adjusted to that.

They do have 3 NCs and 4 in 13 years. If that's poor adjustment, all the other coaches should be fired.

Two things to follow up on.

1. Even assuming JC is back, I would bet that Blaney retires after this season. I would bet that JC has changed his mind as to whether George can be the HC when he's out and that someone else currently on the staff will have that responsbility next year.

2. Look at the play by play from the last two games. AO was on the bench the entire run Syracuse put on us in the first half Saturday night, and was on the bench when we went from about 12 up to 5 down tonight. In this 0-2 stretch, I'd be surprised if AO's plus/minus wasn't at least a plus 20. I don't know why he doesn't grab the boards he did last year (well, I know some of it), but this team has played much better with him on the floor than the bench for a while now. And we don't collapse when he's on the damn floor.

Alex has nothing to do with those runs, he's not playing good basketball at all that's pure coincidence. Now the people in the game aren't lighting the place on fire either so asking to get him back in is fine, but he was awful tonight!!

We disagree. I thought he was fine. Not great, but fine. But on this team, not being part of the meltdowns is what makes you valuable.

That loss was on Blaney. AO went out for Tyler when we were up 12. He didn't get back in until we were two possessions down. Tyler stayed in too long, and then he tried Roscoe. That was the single biggest factor in the loss. Although goodness knows there were others.

And it's fitting our season may have ended with what may be the most ridiculous technical foul call I think I've ever seen.
Agreed we were up 14, Providence called timeout and he puts out Olander and Giffey along with Boat, Lamb and Alex I think. The lead quickly vanished. When it was announced that Blaney would take over in Calhouns absence I knew it was over. Im not sure any coach could get these guys to play hard but I was sure Blaney couldnt

Blaney seems to lose track of the lineup all the time. Strange lineups stay out on the court for extended periods all the time.

I also think the 3 guard just does not work if it is on for half the game. We need more height on the court for rebounding and defense, and I think the offense flows better with a real front court. Once again there was close to 20 minutes of 3 guard, which is down from the typical 25-30 minutes. As BLawyer has pointed out, the team is very productive when both AO and Drummond are on the court. That is a pair that should be seeing 25-30 minutes of court time together.

This was a devastating loss.

I agree. We are seeing to much of the three guard lineup and it is simply not producing. Time to go with the two guard set and RS getting 30+min at the 3/4. We need more size and I love the energy he brings. Also, Bazz needs to learn to look for his shot when we need his scoring, and distribute the ball when we need to get others involved. It seems as if when we need points, he never asserts himself offensively besides being a distributor. And other times, will shot ridiculous contested shots when the offense is flowing, instead of getting teammates inovlved.

If I recall correctly, we had some heated exchanges earlier in the year in regards to Alex. I was ripping on him for a lack of effort and you took offense. Lately, I have praised Alex because he really changed his attitude and showed some positive emotion out there and looked to be back to his old self.....but tonight he was non-existent. He had far too many 3 rebound games this year; games where the only memorable plays he made were bad ones. Its been a tough and disappointing year for Alex. Theres plenty of blame to go around this year, and Alex deserves some of it. He is the eldest player on the team and the captain. He needed to step up and make a play a few times this year and he rarely, if ever, did.
