I really hope Mullins comes back

NC Mock - Reed & Mullins 26-27. They have all three UM players higher than 14. Feels like a reach.

Feel like Mara has a chance to go top 10. Clingan and Edey probably helps his stock.

I’d be surprised to see Morez go lottery but Yaxel probably will at this point.

7th pick gets $6,266,700 1st year.

25th pick gets $2,486,100 1st year.

2 years are guaranteed. NIL is a game changer. No obvious choice unless you are lottery. Do you bet on yourself that you will improve and get drafted higher? Do you want to spend your first year in the G league?

His biggest problem right now is his size. He cant guard NBA players until he gains 5+ pounds of muscle. That will keep him off the floor. His shooting also isn't NBA good enough though we know the potential is there to improve.

.-.
I'd be happy if Braylon announced for the draft like Ebuka Okorie of Stanford, test the NBA waters or return to UConn, just to eliminate that transfer possibility.

Guys, it’s not 2001, there’s no “staying in college to develop” when nba teams can just develop them the way they want on their own terms. Everyone knows this.

hurley just said two days ago the calculus on this has changed because of NIL

Mcneeley is the best comp because Mullins is projected in the mid 20s.

Rookie 1st round contracts are first 2 years guaranteed. So thats under 3 million year 1, and under 3 million year two.

Apparently NIL next year is similar to NBA year one. Certainly not a no brainer, but you do make that 2nd year guaranteed.

Of course if you stay your stock goes up or down. And its a guaranteed G league year 1 if he goes pro.
Draft capital is huge in pro sports. If you’re a lottery pick or bear the top half of the first round, then you get more “rope” to prove yourself and more chances. It’s far easier for an NBA team to send a McNeeley to the G league than a Hawkins, especially for longer stretches.

And finishing near the rim more efficiently. His father has also indicated that Mullins’ ankle still was affecting his explosiveness late into the season. With added strength, muscle, and health we might well see the next level of what he’s capable of next year.

But people have assured us that players Axel’s age would kill their draft stock! lol. I think Mullins would be just fine at his age a year from now.

I agree but he can easily gain five pounds in the off season with an nba training staff and nutritionist. He doesn’t need another year of college to gain weight

If Mullins wants to stay, he will actually be able to pull real endorsement deals that aren’t collective driven.

Pretty sure this guy is not credible, though he might be aggregating here? Not sure where he got it from
OMG if this is true wow. Hurley doesn't let info like this just leak certainly not this fast.

Wouldn't be surprised if this guy is just taking what Hurley said on Dan Patrick and converting it to what it would literally mean (that Mullins could make more than the 15th pick), but dressing it up as if it's a scoop.

isnt it the second or third NBA contract where the big pay day comes in. This is why there's still a draw to get into NBA. to start that timer sooner.

4-5 million? Wow. I'm not saying he isn't worth it but what is our budget for next year? If we're tying up 4-5m in one guy we are going to blow past that $12m figure I've heard teams will need to be competitive.

I figured our roster would be at least 12m next year but probably no more than 15m

OK, but then there's Bouknight. That needs to be a consideration for every kid. The NBA is highly competitive. Getting drafted at 25 assures you of nothing.

So the question is "How do I stick in the NBA?" What's the best path. There is something to be said for gameplay. You can't simulate that in an NBA practice.

Operating on a budget? We're UConn, you can't wanna be in a power conference and be on a budget. You need to show that you have erf you money too.

I said last summer Mullins and Ball would be the best 3pt shooting duo in college, I was a year off

Come back and average 20 on 40%+ make it four final 4s in five years and get drafted in the lotto

Totally worth it for the school. He will be the face of college basketball for 26-27…that and I suspect he will be absolutely awesome as a sophomore.
What does that do for how much we can offer portal dawgs?

Dont be silly and say, "we can offer them less." I'm not that slow. Asking if that means we are gonna have to get significantly lower talent or not.

If the top Portal guys are going to command $5 mil how much would Braylon need to come back...$4 mil? Can we afford to keep Braylon at that price, keep the other main players (Silas, Reibe, Solo, Ross, etc) that won't be cheap & also add the major impact portal guys we need at the 4/5?

I'm sure if Braylon wants to come back we'll find the money and figure it out but the portal amounts being tossed around are nuts.
I dream of having him return. But we don’t have any centers on the roster right now. Just saying…
