The best thing about Syracuse is that they have played a good Robin to whichever Batman was ruling the conference at the moment.

Absolutely freaking perfect.

We are the flagship school of the Big East and have been so for 15-20 years. Deal with it. Or puff your chest out and brag about ruling a lesser conference in the future. Frankly I don't care which you choose to do.

when the top 8 threads on this board are syracuse related. sometimes i think about be careful what you wish for. you guys need to be careful what you wish for. syracuse being good has helped you. guess what, it's over.

Oh no. His right. This could be the end guys. We no longer can hang on to Syracuse's coat tails. We'll just have to rely on the 2 NCs and 3 final 4s since 2003 to hope this is enough to be somewhat relevant.

I feel bad for some friends I have who are up in Boston - they're great Syracuse fans, great sports fans and they really would have enjoyed another Final Four. No one deserves a Final Four, but if anyone did, it's them - truly feel bad for them.

But, I don't feel bad for this mushroom cap.

His team gets bounced in what was their 'dream' season and his first instinct is to come here? .

Ditto for the freak on the SU board who trolls every post I make with SU in it - get a life, sweet pea.

I'm still wondering why the Cuse fan is here looking for our approval.

I can neither like nor agree with this post enough.

If you frequent any boards other than this one ( and I am cutting way back), Cuse fans have a pathetic need for recognition and affirmation. Deep down they fear nobody truly respects them.

Cuse fans - look at your NCAA tourney results for the past 20 years. Besides 2003, they're pathetic. That you have the unmitigated gall (/channels Stephen A Smith) to come talk to us is funny. We laugh about it.

Also - to the main point of the OP here, there were like 5 threads when Louisville won with a variation of the same sentence that popped up within a few minutes. I guess we're obsessed with them too.

the only reason that you have a program, basketball or football, is that you were grandfathered in to a conference that syracuse built. we paved the road and you drove down it. yet you spend your time to bite the hand that fed you. we left. more than likely you guys will once again ride our coattails into the ACC. and then you should send us a thank you letter.

The Big East has 6 National Championships and 3 of them were won by Connecticut. Uh, now, who did you say is riding whose coattails?

you know what? i think orangehomer is right. we do hav a true rival. think about it...whether its uconn that loses in the elite 8 or the quse....what do we do at our angriest moment??? decide to duck* with our rivals. try and make them seem a little bit more down, even though we really look like the fool. its just "rival" nature. so thank you orangehomer......although your post may not have been meant to be a tearful goodbye....i WILL indeed miss the uconn cuse games and although husky blue corses my veins....i will always miss our little brother. until we meet again....its been real.

Not an easy one to swallow huh guy? Damn you ruined my thoughts of you being bigger than most of your cohorts in regards to losing and UConn bashing. I can say this with the utmost confidence......UConn made you who you came back to be along with GTown because if it wasn't for the Huskies for many years in the Big East, they may not have invited too many others many times to the dance. The embarrasment of some of your tournament showings will be remembered also!!....you're welcome!!!

You guys invited UConn, that's true.

But damn if you're not exaggerating your success.

1980: 5-1 (tied for 1st), S16
1981: 6-8 (6th place--behind UConn)--you won the BET...because it was in the Carrier Dome (NIT)
1982: 7-7 (tied with UConn for 5th) (NIT)
1983: 9-7 (5th place) Second Round NCAAs
1984: 12-4 (2nd place). S16
1985: 9-7 (tied for 3rd), Second Round NCAAs
1986: 14-2 (tied for 1st) Second Round of NCAAs
1987: 12-4 (tied for 1st) Lost in NC Game
1988: 11-4 (2nd place, BET Champs), Second Round of NCAAs
1989: 10-6 (3rd place), E8
1990: 12-4 (tied for 1st w/UConn) S16
1991: 12-4 (1st place) First Round Loss to Richmond
1992: 10-8 (tied with UConn for 5th, BET Champs) Second Round of NCAAs
1993: 10-8 (3rd place) No Post-Season

At that point, this transitioned into UConn's conference

So inthe time in which this was "you're conference":

You won 5 regular season titles over 13 years, 3 BET titles, and 1 Final Four, 1 E8, 3 S16
In comparison, during that time period:

Georgetown won 3 regular season titles, 6 BET titles, 1 NC, 2 Final Four, 3 E8
St. John's won 4 regular season titles, 2 BET titles, 1 Final Four, 1 E8, 1 S16
Villanova won 2 regular season titles, 1 NC, 3 E8
BC won 2 regular season titles, 1 E8, 3 S16
Seton Hall won 1 regular season titles, 2 BET title, 2 Final Four, 1 S16

Regular season 1st place finishes from 1980-1993
Syracuse - 5
St. John's -4
Georgetown - 3
BC - 2
Villanova - 2
UConn - 1
Seton Hall - 1

BET Titles
Georgetown - 6
Syracuse - 3
Seton Hall - 2
St. John's - 2

Championships
Georgetown - 1
Villanova - 1

Final Fours
Georgetown - 3
Seton Hall - 2
Providence - 1
St. John's - 1
Syracuse - 1
Villanova - 1

Elite 8s
Georgetown - 6
Villanova - 4
Seton Hall - 2
St. John's - 2
Syracuse - 2
Providence - 1
BC - 1
UConn - 1

Sweet 16s
Georgetown - 6
Syracuse - 5
Villanova - 4
BC - 4
Seton Hall - 3
St. John's - 3
UConn - 2
Providence - 1

A whole lot of stats basically to argue that you were at best second fiddle to Georgetown from 1980-1993, and at worst tied or equal to Villanova and St. John's.

From 1994-2012, pick any 13 year period for UConn and it trumps Syracuse's.

This is UConn's conference...

So then does that mean UConn paved the way for Syracuse to get an invite to the ACC?

Both thoughts are delusional, but I think mine is slightly less so.

Cuse fans really crack me up. We all have members of our fan bases who are truly irrational, but Cuse fans top it off for me. They continuosly think that they are on the same level/better than UCONN. It kills them that we have 3 titles to their 1, more overall success in the Big East. At this very minute, they think that our program is DONE, that it is a DIRTY program, and we will never again be successful, while they have a bright future ahead.

Maybe that ends up happening. But how can a Cuse fan today call another program dirty after what they went through this year? There is a decent chance that a lot of their victories from this year will be vacated, the drug scandal will eventually lead to some type of penalty, they are going to go through the same APR issues we are going through, Boeheim isn't a spring chicken. And they just let their best regular season lead to another loss before even the Final 4.

UCONN has a lot of uncertainty in the program right now with Calhoun's decision, and the APR. Those things will get worked out shortly. In the long run i think we are in much better shape with new leadership from administration, practice facility, a potential young coach coming in, etc.

I can understand the Syracuse fan's frustration. They were at the top of the mountain, slipped up, and watched UConn climb up there and replace them as the flagship program for the BE. Boeheim started at Syracuse a decade before Calhoun got to UConn which is pretty much the only reason why Syracuse fans were ever allowed to feel like they were fans of the best program in the conference.

Considering their BE history I truly believe that the Orange picked the wrong fruit to be their nickname. It would be far more accurate and appropriate if they called themselves the Syracuse Second Bananas.

This is priceless. I said it early- Quse was never going to sniff a NC this year and as planned they choked. Could not happen to a nicer fan base.

Now they can look forward to the repercussions of their staff ignoring a Pedi- and the players smoking weed over several seasons while the staff- once again turned their heads. Their program is a joke.

They will be the new BC of the ACC in a few years. I spit in their general direction- PE-TOOWEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yey another pissing contest.....

Couldn't help it, I found myself rooting for Cuse till I realized they were no longer our brothers in arms, just somebody I used to know. Good luck with your frequent flyer miles guys, you'll need it. So will we in the "I have no idea what to call it conference" Shall we call it the Big East/West. All this BS for football scraps, a sport I now refuse to watch if it's not UCONN. It was fun while it lasted.
