Cuse extended the D beyond the 3 to prevent the loss.

We did what he had to do and got the ball into the paint. Roscoe could have passed it, but he didn't. He got fouled. No call. Game over.

Can't get on Roscoe's case, we aren't in this game at all if it wasn't for him.

I was at the game and haven't replayed that last play, but I thought that Roscoe should have taken what looked like an open J, but instead drove it into traffic and got snuffed. I'll have to watch it to see if that was the case. This is what happens when a guy who's not used to taking the last shot has the ball in that situation. I had hoped that they would find a way to give it to Lamb, but that doesn't seem to happen enough for this team.

I'm not sure why Roscoe is in the game at that point. If it's for rebounding wouldn't Oriakhi make more sense, if it's for offense wouldn't Giffey?

Jeremy said in post game quotes it was definitely a foul. Others said it is tough/not always expected to get a call at that point in the game.

What's with this 'they never call a foul at that point in the game' thing everone is talking about? Is this an actual rule or just an informal rule/code of the refs?

Either way, it makes no sense. What about Pitt and Butler in the tourney last year?

Also, for as awkward and unsure as RS l.ooked, he was clearly fouled by Fair.

In all seriousness, no way that was a foul in that spot and do you think in a million years he would have made 2 FTs. He clunked 2 just a few minutes before.

Yes, he should have either shot the ball right away or passed down to AD on the left moving to the hoop. When he did drive, he should have taken it more into the defender instead of whatever you would call what he did. But, easy to second guess. First time I recall Roscoe being in that type of situation and hopefully he'll be a little calmer next time. Roscoe played very well. We had lots of other opportunities to get key baskets with less than the best decisions. Maybe Syracuse is pretty good....just a thought.

So you are saying that at other points in the game that takedown by Fair would have been a foul, but with 2 seconds it isn't! That's bulls!!it, a foul should be a foul at anytime during a game.

Wasn't a takedown. It was a terrible play. No way he should have touched the ball other than a put back.

What the hell are you talking about? He was ripped down from behind. He ended up on the ground. That's the exact definition of a takedown.

in all seriousness, it was a foul all day by any definition of a foul at any point in the game

that "in that spot argument" is akin to an old wives tale, factually inaccurate

as for making free throws, who knows, just nonsensical to argue such in justifying the no call. And he had the ball in that spot because he was open and he was executing that play. Fair knew he was beat, hence his intentional grabbing of Roscoe's arms

guy just doesn't recognize what's happening out there. Argues Roscoe should not have been in there, should not of had the ball, and wasn't fouled

WTF?

Cuse is having one of those years when just about everything goes right for them including calls like the no calls of last night. Almost the anti-UCONN season that we have been witnessing where just about everything has gone wrong for them.

Win the next two, win a game in the big east tourney and then start the fun.

At least the refs in the ivy league have some guts to call a foul at the end of the game. Harvard got called for a charge last night against Princeton w about 4 seconds left to end the game for them. They lost the game by 1. It really boggles my mind that on such a clear foul on scoe it just wasn't called.

I also thought Smith should have shot before pressure came but he takes a bit too long and is stiff getting a shot off in general. He's had a number of shots blocked this year including against Cuse (usually right out of his hand due to lack of elevation or just a slow release) and I think he was afraid to go up for the shot. He was hoping for a foul bailout call which he should have gotten but didn't. I doubt he would have made two free throws. This was one case where we really missed JC. He is usually great at calling final plays.
