OT: I Heard 72% of Adults Live Within......

Drove a U-Haul truck from Maine to the California desert back in 1980 to escape the harsh winters. It was 123 degrees in Palm Springs yesterday and i was in Palm Desert where it went to 124 degrees. Still looking for the middle.

I feel like there is a potential song in there somewhere.

I’m about 350 miles, Connecticut to Maryland.

41 miles. I like it here, plus my children and grandchildren are only 5 miles away. Believe me, there are many other places in the country I would be comfortable living out my "golden years", but the wife wants to remain close to the kids, so here we are.

Lived in Oklahoma for 3 years in the early 70's while attending college. Greg Pruitt & Alvin Adams were the BMOC at OU, while Johnny Rodgers was in the national gridiron spotlight at Nebraska during that time.

Didn't like the extreme swings in the weather. Weather I was not use to, especially during the summer. I was also right in the middle of "tornado alley." I definitely didn't like that. We have tornadoes in California mainly in the Central Valley, but nowhere near the force and magnitude of those in Oklahoma.

When atmospheric lift (a term to describe how weather systems help trigger storms) is present, the ground conditions are not favorable for tornadic development. California is a dry state (even without the drought) making it difficult for tornadoes to develop with significant frequency. :D

1,833 miles, Lafayette, IN to Las Vegas, NV. Spent most of my first 44 years in places that were high in humidity and in the winter it was cold and the summer had bugs. Over the last 24 years I've lived in the desert where it's like spring in the winter time and I can stand the heat more than the cold. Plus there's no income tax in the State of Nevada. My wife's is over 5,600 miles, Bueren, Germany to Las Vegas.

home boys and girls are usually the happiest folks cuz they know what to expect, ergo the 20 mile thing.

It's 1,140 miles from where I was born (Verona, NJ) to where I live now (outside Tampa). It was a cicuritous route between the two: Rutherford, NJ for high school years, then Vietnam and Germany with the military, then Charlotte, NC, then Scottsdale, AZ for a short spell, then back to NC (Durham and Charlotte), then Knoxville,TN, then West Hartford, then Raleigh, NC and finally to Tampa, where I can put my feet up and rest a spell.
