We might have to have a private thread about all the coaches fitting that bill. ;)

I'm not being funny but my eyes are welling up right now!!! Geno is a true (southern) Gentleman even though he lives in the northeast. Being a southern Gentleman is the highest compliment you can give a man!!!!

Pat Summit will always be my favorite womens basketball coach of all time. Geno is #2 on my list now. I loved Matthew Mitchell at UK as my #2 but Geno takes his place. I sure wish Matthew would get back into coaching.
You guys down South have an interesting view of the U.S. Geno is not a "brash Yankee". He's a brash Philly, which is even worse. He may live in the northeast now, but Philly is just a handful of miles north of the Mason-Dixon line. He's closer to being a "southern gentleman" than a Yankee.

I've lived in SC for 50 years and people still call me a Yankee, lol.

I know he and Dawn have had a spat over him saying "Carolina plays hard and leaves bruises on my players." I hope they both come together when UCONN comes to Columbia and uplifts each other. Well on 2nd thought, maybe they need something to spat about to keep the rivalry juicy. What say you?

I was thinking of ordering a bottle of his Pinot Grigio, but it's only sold in stores in Connecticut as best I can tell online. I may just have to order it and have it shipped to my home. Anyone highly recommend his wines? or is it being bought more as a novelty item?

I don't believe it was ever a spat. IMO Geno and Dawn think the same. Years ago before SC played UCONN, Dawn benched the SC center the game before UCONN so as to try to fire her up. Geno had done that years earlier I know with Charde among others and I'm sure other coaches did the same. And Geno did the same thing for that game by benching Stewie and Tuck. They both tried to influence the next game.

Similar to the initial comment Geno made about bruises. Geno has complained for years prior to SC about the physicality of the game and how he prefers a more wide open game. He would want to influence the game to be more free-flowing. While Dawn, prior to the Geno comment, she had complained about her team's characterization. She wanted it stopped. I even saw her being interviewed on ESPN and someone mentioned her team's rough-and-tough play as a compliment and she took it as a slap. She wanted to influence to everyone that her team is more than just "rough and tumble." She doesn't want to hear that she only does super-well when she has bigs. That just isn't true. SO she tried to influence that characterization.

IMO they are both making comments of their points that they want to influence. They make the one comment then move on. I didn't believe there was spat. More like a hit-and-run comment.
