When I was the Head Wrestling Coach at East Lyme HS I had many mothers of my wrestlers go out into the hall when their sons were on the mat!
Occasionally I had a mother who would go berserk standing & yelling during their sons match! But these ladies were the quietest people away from the matches and wouldn't say "BOO" usually but the matches made them do a Jekyll & Hyde!
My mom had a hard time watching my older brother wrestle because he would get behind in the score early (of the top ten in the State of Iowa at 185, #1, 2, 4, 5, & 7 were in NE Iowa where we lived - he was #4), but he would pin his opponent late in the 3rd period, six matches were 5:57, 5:58, 5:59 in six minute matches.
I vowed to make it easier on her, and did fairly well in being up 7+ points going into the second period in most matches my senior year, and pinning my opponents in the second period or early in the third period. Too bad we did not have tech falls back in the day.
Since starting my workup for heart surgery to solve my atrial fib issues, I usually DVR the games if I can get them and start watching one hour after scheduled start time - just in case it may go OT; or watch the highlights on YouTube (when the game was not available) after seeing the box score when I hear/see the final score. If I have the box score, I tend to fast forward through quarters where the opponents are catching up, e.g. the 3rd quarter against U$C in the Elite Eight, and then rewind on great plays in the 4th quarter like Aubrey in the 4th quarter, as we did not see much of her in the tourney, and got to see all of Azzi's makes...
I like the UConn women vs. UCLA whether they cover the projected winning margin or not, as I do not have money on the game. They play team basketball in every sense.
Go Huskies!!!
