Great idea. Let's alienate more people to UConn football.

The alternative? The OP doesn't renew tickets and cuts off donations.

All because some security guard hardos who likely can't even count to 30 hassle him to enforce this stupid rule.

Every time we take a step forward ( like increasing social media presence) we take two back with things like this.

Art, I don't tailgate myself. I go for the game. Pull into the parking lot, about 45 min to an hour before the game and last week notwithstanding I'm always in my seat before kickoff. But if someone who buys a ticket and parking pass wants to tailgate a little longer they shouldn't be harrassed. That is my opinion only.

I am the same, in terms of the tailgating. I used to be the first guy there. Those days are gone. But on the flip side, we need people who are there for the game. The people who have a problem with the tailgate Nazis, and don't come back. Buh Bye.....

I love the tailgate and the game. I am always there to tailgate 4 hours before the game and in by kickoff. What I do know is that if there was no tailgating at these games we would have about 5k at every game at most. It's just a CT thing. We can try to fool ourselves if we want but at this stage in our program that's the reality. Be careful what you wish for if you are telling fans if you don't leave the tailgate early than don't go. They won't and UCONN will be screwed. Just saying from a season ticket holder from day one of the Rent.

The people they are alienating are the ones who come in during the 2nd quarter and leave by the end of the 3rd. Who needs 'em?

Yes...I heard they were going to cancel tailgating all together. Wow...the under 100 post crowd is out in force.

Why are you being so intentionally obtuse?

You obviously know the revenue short fall that's already happening, and yet you're ok with turning paying/donating customers off?

We'd all love 40k in the tent from start ti finish but realistically it's not happening.

Anybody that's bought a ticket and actually shows up is ok in my book.

40K at the Rent at the start is not happening because everybody makes excuses. Until the excuses stop and people get in early, and stay late, we will be small time.

In case you or others don't realize, let me clue you in. Players and or recruits love a full and loud stadium. The drunks who buy tickets, and whine about the Nazi's, do no good for the team and the recruits. Showing up late and leaving early means zilch.

The money will not be an issue. UConn is too invested to fail in football. But a full and loud crowd, win or lose, is what is needed.

The excuse crowd can go watch soccer.

I get the policy but I think it'd be more fair to make it 30 minutes after the start of the game, not before. TBH as a former student I can far too easily picture everyone just chugging whatever they've concocted to get in on time, then of course ending up that much more f-cked up by the time they get to their seats.

It's a CT thing, yet it's not a CT thing for basketball games.

Part of it may may have to do with being stuck in a small time AAC league, just sayin.
Now when do we play national powerhouses... Tulsa, Tulane & Memphis?

Be in your seat for kick off for those games and I will be impressed.

Protip: if you want to convince people to be in the stadium for kickoff, try not being such an obnoxious self absorbed windbag about it. What a jerk.

Anyway, I would love more people to inside early, but the policy is dumb.

Thank you for your "mid first quarter" interest in UConn football. Trust me on this. You are a clueless lurker that only dreamed about having a clue.

Time to move on Sonny.

Look, you are not The Pope of Uconn football. Grow up and get over yourself.

I'm going to keep this short and use small words because idiots are involved in the conversation:

Let adults tailgate where and when they choose.

Will you guys please buy more banana bread from Art's bake sale so he isn't so upset?

It's a CT thing...
What? Complaining? Nah, impossible! Arrive, enjoy catching up with existing friends, BSing with neighboring tailgaters, enjoy some food and a few beers/cocktails, and meander into the game before kickoff is just way too much to expect. Without some Gezpatcho parking attendants, that's an entirely reasonable standard. Encouragement to enter is different from yellow jacket-forced entry, but someone will complain regardless in the Land of Steady Habits. ;)

Yeah if you don't get in your seat in time to watch UConn try to gag a game away to Stony Brook we don't need you.

Just remember you spent the time to actually go to that game and you are the problem.

Honestly I would think they would want people wasted and having fun that way they don't have to explain that mess on the field to the fan base. I might realize I'm paying good money to see a high school team.

People will just starting leaving then 30 minutes before the game. We offered the cops beer and food before the BYU game and while not accepting of our offers, let us stay until almost the 2nd quarter. The cops were laughing at how bad the team was, already down big like 3 minutes into the game

I hate not being in for kickoff personally. However, in my opinion we're better off having the fans that enter late/leave early at this point because the game isn't selling out. I'd rather sell 35,000 and have 70% in at kickoff than sell 25,000 and have 100% in. If they were ripping off 10 win seasons and selling 40,000 per game, I'd say let the fans who want to be there from kickoff to final whistle buy the tickets, everyone else can get drunk in the parking lot all they want. Of course if they were ripping off 10 win seasons, people would be excited about going to games and would be in at kickoff.

Tailgating policies ranks somewhere around 43,219th on the list of things that need to be fixed right now. Anyone who pays for a ticket for this product, given all of the promise of seeing UConn compete against the best and now stuck in conference tussles with Tulsa and Tulane, is a G-d damn lunatic hero and UConn should be profoundly grateful.

Pretty much.
