Huskies vs. USF Game Thread

With how the Refs are calling this game, any1 see a potential Tulane game where USF makes it interesting.

While USF has made some tough shots with players right with them. They have had a lot of Open Looks. Not the best Team Defense for UConn.
UConn leads despite playing 5 against 8. That was a charge into KLS, not a travel. Saniya did not even touch the player she "fouled". Natalie got pushed in the back on one rebound - no call. She got mugged on another rebound, no call until they called her for a foul when both players fell. I am really surprised Geno has not ripped into these terrible refs.

Offense continues to be outstanding. Pretty disappointing quarter on the defensive end though, like the 2nd half of the first game against Temple.
Defense is really good. A couple of lucky, bad form shots dropped in for Florida, and the refs have helped a lot as well.

Nope

This game had a nicer flow to it until the whistles started blowing. Another thing I find amusing is USF the offense. I've been watching them in a few games lately and their offense has been putrid. Yet in this game they get down 20 and then get all loosy goosy and start hitting shots from all over the place. Not just threes but off balance, running circus shots. Whatever.

With Kara announcing, think Pheesa just locked up AA!
From your mouth to the committee 's ears!
Glad you two reminded me of something I meant to say earlier. I was really pleased to hear Kara say early in this game that she sees three All-Americans coming from UConn (again) this year. I'm pretty sure most everyone here is on board with that, but it was even nicer to hear it from a respected voice like Kara's from outside the BY bubble. :)

UConn needs to start fast and effectively in the second half, and extinguish any residual USF dreams of a "Tulanish" second half rally.

I think you will see UConn try and defend the drive more by blocking shots this half instead of stepping up and trying to draw the charge. There have been quite a few drives where the USF player just used a euro step and stepped past the help defender for a layup.

Much better D by Uconn to start the 2nd half

I do too. Just wish they would say who the fouls are on. Seems like they never do until somebody is in foul trouble.
I think she's one of the most intelligent commentators in hoops-- women and men.

That phony foul called on Collier blocking the three goes into the bucket of horrendous calls against her. Clean block.

.-.
Trust Collier to end the streak of missed shots. UConn's defense hasn't been very good tonight. Better since the start of the 2nd half.

No Collier, no win. Again.
