Alex Vesia's injury opened the door for Ben to get on the roster. Vesia is a key lefty out of the bullpen, so a significant loss for the Dodgers.

Ben looked really good out there going through 3-4-5. Got away with a mistake to Alonso, but all in all looked pretty nasty. It's good to get this experience and I see no reason why he's not in LA's longterm plans. There isn't a better team out there to maximize his potential. Huge win for UConn baseball and Penders tonight!

Casparius with another good performance last night.
Gotta think performing under the brightest lights gives him 2-3 years to show he belongs.
Even if Dodgers don't keep him, some GM is going to take a chance.
And that's all you can ask for- an opportunity.
Good for him.

I agree with the write up below that Ben should be safe on the WS roster. Some big pieces should be coming back for the Dodgers, probably pieces mandatory in order to beat the Yankees. At this point I think Ben beats out Joe Kelly on merit, should he be available.

Congrats to Ben for making the most of his eight MLB appearances. He parlayed those into a semi-high leverage spot last night and has become an important cog in the way this Dodgers ptiching staff needs to operate.

Who would Alex Vesia and Brusdar Graterol replace on Dodgers roster?

If the Dodgers decide to add one or both of them to the World Series roster, the changes would have to be a pitcher for pitcher swap as they already have the maximum of 13 allowed on the team. The names who could be on their way off the club are Edgardo Henriquez, Landon Knack and Brent Honeywell, none of whom factored into their winning bullpen games.

Ben Casparius seems to be safe after working his way into a higher leverage role during Game 6 while also providing some length.

The only advantage that I see for Joe Kelly is the fact that he has pitched before in the WS, if he becomes available.

Yep. The problem with Kelly is that his command comes and goes too often, and how can you trust that after how many nagging injuries he's got. When Kelly is on, he's an absolute force and probably has the second best stuff outside Treinen. Plus the guy is spicy and scared of absolutely nothing.

All that said....Ben has been dealing nothing but strikes and the Yankees (672) were first in drawing walks this season. Dodgers (602) were 2nd. The Mets series was won by LA drawing walks and this series will probably come down the same. LA will attempt to SB more as well.

I never knew that Waslewski went to UConn. I knew the others on the list except for Rollie Sheldon. I looked it up and saw that Gary was born in Meriden and attended Berlin High. I started following the Sox in '67 and remember Gary.

Dammit. I was only planning on watching the Dodgers celebration. Now I have to watch the start of the thing.

Ben is second pitcher to have first career start in World Series. He was a bit wild in first inning but only gave up one run through two innings.
