Speaking of the draft, when will the draft be held? I can't find anything on google that has a date. Normally it's in June though, right? If anyone has the date for the upcoming draft, please share. Thanks
 
He’s gone. I don’t think he’s NBA ready. Heck I don’t think he’ll be there very long. But I hope he goes as High as possible in the Draft.

Beyond defense Bouk immediately will be attempting to take someone's money, earnings, lifeline and financial security. That's when it can become cutthroat for a rookie. NBA players are competing to feed their families and maintain the lifestyle they created for themselves. Competition in practice will be brutal, and if he goes to the wrong team it could be savage.

Not saying anything about his readiness just talking about his teammates defending their bank. Let's hope the right team selects him even if he moves down in the draft.

Which is the whole point. 75%+ of first round underclassmen are not "ready". This exact explanation has been made in dozens of posts on this forum in the last month.

Once you’re in the league it’s about you putting in the time. They aren’t babysitting you. Yes coaching might be better but it’s not like college when you are in strict workout schedules

Ugh. Which is the same for any other draftee. Which is why the guaranteed contract comes into play for the first round picks.
 
Do people think NBA teams don’t develop their lottery picks? It’s hard for me to understand that logic. Everyone keeps saying come back to get better, But His job will be to play professional basketball. That will give him time to develop his body and improve. The coaching is better the NBA, nutrition, strength and condition, list goes on and on. You can pick holes in tons of lottery picks. It’s about potential and what you can/will be. Not as much what you just did.

Teams also are aware of what they invested in a first round pick. They're going to do everything they can to ensure the draftee's success. Unless you're Thibs and the Knicks.

Generally speaking when teams invest millions of dollars in an asset they are incentivized to improve that asset as much as possible.

Exactly. Which is why the 3rd year rookie contract option is very likely to be picked up even if the player sucks. It's admitting a mistake not to (maybe prematurely).

I just find it funny when people say he needs to come back, improve, work on his body etc. Why would that be better in college than in the NBA? Lol. If he’s a fringe first rounder, sure, there’s merit to showing more of what you can do. He’s a lottery pick. Maybe he slips a bit and possibly out of the lottery but he’s 100000% a first round pick. Not sure exactly who his player comp is, but if he has a similar career type to Lamb, that’s certainly a success

This is 100% inaccurate. They absolutely babysit the younger players. You think any NBA player that misses workouts is going to not have consequences from his coaches and staff? The warriors have a freaking bed time for the team for . This isn't the 80s NBA any more. GMs that invest millions in these assets demand an elite work ethic from them.

And the players largely "get it" these days. It's not like they'll fight the team rules. Players are much more mature and at a younger age. Hell, prospects hire chefs before the draft nowadays. They know it's a business, they know it's work. Sure, you still get some knuckleheads who party too much and are too immature but by and large it's impressive how seriously most young players take the game and their development.

GM's and Coaches need to win or they are fired, and 2 guards grow on trees. Bouk better be ready to produce quickly, because by the end of next year, the GM's and Coaches will be looking at the next class.

That doesn't mean a team would give up on him, or any lottery pick, especially in an increasingly positionless league where you need shooters, scorers, and depth.

Lottery picks are given a lot more leeway than guys on 2 way contracts. They aren’t just gonna give up on him in 1 season, and if they do, a smart team will buy low and develop him. Guys who have a knack for scoring and provide the athleticism he does don’t just grow on trees. If they did, he wouldn’t be a projected lottery pick.
 
Bouk leaving is better for us as a program anyway. Have a lottery pick will make recruiting a lot easier for Dan Hurley. This will be his first high end 1st rounder of his collegiate coaching career. Bouk is now a walking recruiting tool. You’ll hear his name come up from respective recruits when they talk UConn. For that, thanks Bouk. The kid gave us what he had. Go get your reward

what's bouk's player comp now? he shot 29%(!) from 3 this year so i was thinking of a poor man's demar derozan who has a great midrange game, can finish and draw fouls, but doesnt even attempt threes. but demar is a great passer and bouk had a negative A/TO ratio.

those 2 stats (bad 3pt shooting and negative ratio) are a terrible combo for a G...not to mention he's also a below average defender...lou williams? nah he's also a much better passer...who are some SGs that average <1 3pm and ~1apg?

Bouk will have waaaaaay more space in the NBA. His 3 point percentage will improve

but the 3 pt line is also much further back. the 29% wasnt just because a lot were contested he's just not a good 3 pt shooter. he missed plenty of open 3s.

Kevin O'Connor of the Ringer did a mock ranking last week and had Bouknight 14th. His "shades of" section listed Donovan Mitchell, CJ McCollum, and Jordan Clarkson. Don't shoot the messenger.

(Also, you're comparing him to 31 year old Demar Derozan who's been in the league since Bouknight was 8 years old. He averaged half an assist a game as a rookie. He's averaging 7 and a half this years. Guys get better in the NBA.)

The Lou Williams comp is not very good either but, ultimately, who cares.
