Hurley on current state of CBB

Not just cuz he's my coach. But Yes!!!! I've been saying it all along....what about us? What about the Millions of fans who actually make CBB viable at all. Why don't we factor in? Id rather look out for the BY's interests, tbh.

People use the "well coaches get to move whenever they want, and up to pros and back to college if they want"...

But who cares? They arent 'students' and It happens less frequently - plus it doesnt have the same unintended consequences for cbb.

There isnt always blanket equality in the workplace. Some companies/states allow non-compete clauses, for example. Thats not "fair" to all workers. but sometimes institutions need protection too.
I think we can all agree it's good the players can now profit off name, image, and likeness but we've opened up everything to the sharks like never before. I think Hurley made the best point on this I've seen out of anyone. Who is protecting the sport? We've now opened it up to outside individuals, companies/private equity. Pay whatever it takes, squeeze every cent out of it...

Players transferring every season with coaches being tasked with coaching as they try and keep the vultures away from their players and a constant sales job to retain their players while snatching players from other programs. Professionals taking spots from 18/19 year old high school kids. Legendary coaches retiring early because of it. There needs to be limits to everything, this wild wild west atmosphere will eventually take it's toll where irreparable damage will be done to the sport...

What good is unfettered player empowerment if the sport is destroyed in the process?

It was a lot less out of control with Charlie than it is now. But he has said the NCAA losing in court every time means they can't do much without Congress. The guidance from the courts has been really sparse, never saying what can be done, only what can't be done.
Have they been fighting after the Emmert fiasco? Or just caving every time they get sued

100%
Saving the sport should be the priority in this situation. The majority of us clearly think its gone too far and we are among the most cbb crazed fanbases on the entire planet.

Agree Charlie was fine in Mass HH!
