Hurley Article from CT Insider

What in the are you talking about?

What will he be penalized by the ncaa (lmao!)? Hiring prostitutes to have s*x with recruits?or cover up r**e allegations for years? Or covering up se**al assault allegations of the university trainer? Or beating his wife?

How many of his recruits have ever gotten in trouble with the law? Exactly.

He gets pissed off at the refs and doesn’t take from the fans. Good. You guys are perfectly fine with fans berating him and his family. It’s sad. Coach K, Self, Izzo, Calipari, Pitino, etc all have acted like Hurley or worse on the sidelines, but you guys accept that.
You just dont get it
Keep those rose colored glasses on
So fans just decided one day out of the blue moon to berate him and his family??
Who are you guys, anyway???
I will bet you my house that none of the coaches you cite shouted out "you are an f* clown" to any official. You don't call officials names - you dont call opposing coaches names in public - its a silent creed. But he wins 2 championships and he can do what he wants in your eyes.
You are so wrong and never decide to coach at any level with an attitude and outlook like you display here.
IGNORE

BTW Einstein -those infractions you talk about are civil ones and handled by the legal and police - the things that Hurley does is handled by the NCAA and they can invoke suspensions and deny programs the ability to play in the post season - thats where I'm coming from.
Even a genius like yourself should be able to distinguish the differences.

Do you watch college basketball, or sports in general??

Anyway,

[Izzo: 'Comfortable' with handling of allegations

“Beard was arrested Dec. 12 after Trew called 911 and told officers Beard strangled, bit and hit her during a confrontation in his home.”

Is there an unwritten rule about accepting the above? Is this what you prefer? Weird take. Have a good night

Hurley also doesn't cheat and throw any staffer under the bus to try and weasel out of a situation.

Are you sure? Comments by some of the posters told me he’s an absolute miserable human being

Haha right Hurley is just a monster. Anyone who says Hurley is miserable, they are really the miserable person in reality.

.-.
The Hurley side show will play very well as long as he keeps winning at a high level

Jim Harbaugh had the same problem at Michigan when he first got there (and it costed his team games as the refs were clearly out to get him) and he changed then won a national title. Jim Harbaugh is 1000x calmer than he used to be and it didn’t make him any less of a man or passionate coach. And it certainly didn’t change how great of a coach he was clearly.
The refs are out to get Hurley yet he is 92-22 over the last 3 seasons, 13-1 in his last 14 tourney appearances with back to back national titles. Let them keep trying if those are the results. The early tourney exit wasnt the refs but just a team whos parts didnt match well with what Dan Hurley wants to do. We`ll be back in the hunt for #7 next season i have no doubt.

Is he usually right about his complaints with refs?

he may be right sometimes, until he actually says what he's thinking.

This idea that a coach has to work the refs in order to get a fair shake is the dumbest damn thing that's ever been repeated posted on the boneyard.

I don’t think a coach should have to work the refs to get fair reffing decisions, but conversely I don’t think fair reffing decisions should be based on whether or not the refs think a coach is a cool guy.

If so many people are asserting that Hurley’s attitude is the reason that his teams don’t get a good whistle, doesn’t that indicate an issue with officiating? Surely he wouldn’t be the only coach in the country in that boat.

I agree, but can you think of a key time in a game where we got the benefit of the whistle instead of it going against us?

Yeah, that moment alone in that one game changed the trajectory of the season. In what universe did you watch this season?
Losing to Memphis in overtime possibly because of his technical foul most definitely affected the final seeding for the NCAAT ( that plus the best coach in America not being able to teach his team any inbounds plays ) resulting in the horrendous loss to Seton Hall. We wouldn’t have played Florida in the second round. He’s a great coach without question but he has some major flaws that need to be addressed. Maturity comes to mind.

.-.
Wow if Hurley calms down maybe he too could win a title someday
You can win titles without the antics. Instead of talking about the valiant team effort to defend their back to back titles against Florida all they’re talking about is Dan Hurley outburst. It’s completely unnecessary. And needlessly portrays UConn in a bad light. JMHO

you are making my point for me.

Yes, this season against Villanova during our big comeback. Hurley yelled at the refs going into a timeout and then immediately following that the refs called something like 6 fouls against Nova in a short stretch which started our run to win the game

Edit: I think I'm confusing the 2 Nova games. Something like that did happen earlier in the year but I think it was the BET game where Hurley got a tech and then we went on a huge run

Some of these comments are deplorable. Calling Hurley "a miserable human being" goes well beyond the line. Its the kind of personal attack you can expect from an internet alpha.....a dude my generation thirty years ago would call a P____. Big boy when it comes to saying things online, but not much else. Just make your point that you do not like Hurley's antics and move on. That's ok. Hurley is not everybody's coup of tea. Just stay away from personal assassinations. It is a small minded thing to do.

it's sickening to me to read Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc. and see threads about UConn and Hurley. Outside of UConn fans he seems to be universally hated.

I'm sure a big part of this is sour grapes by fans of teams that UConn has beat, and a whole bunch of self loathing fans because their own team sucks.

But uconn kinda needs to be liked, even if it's only for merchandising revenue and TV viewership.

I can sympathize with the guy, I have rarely had a thought I didn't share. but as a coach, no team was better behaved than the ones I coached, and a few people had a problem with me because my teams kick their ass repeatedly.

The only exception is a coach from a neighboring town who by chance went to UConn. He kind of beat my teams 16 years in a row in the finals. Great coach, and great guy.

I don't understand why only Hurley gets this press. Doesn't Florida's coach hit his wife?

Many of the things that people complain about are the reasons that Dan Hurley is so successful. His passion. His intensity. His myopic focus. His refusal to suffer fools gladly. His anger. His histrionics. His explosive personality. His quirks and superstitions. Let Hurley be Hurley. You don't get to pick the parts of Hurley you like and throw the other parts away. You take the whole thing or nothing. Relax and enjoy the roller coaster. Go to the ceremony in Springfield when he is put in the Hall of Fame.

We had a coach with almost no sideline passion. A coach that almost never complained about the refs. His name was Kevin Ollie.

UConn does NOT have to be liked. UConn has to be feared and respected. UConn has to pile up wins. UConn has to produce great players and high draft picks. UConn has to support Danny Hurley.

Hurley also doesn't cheat and throw any staffer under the bus like Harbaugh did with Connor Stallions to try weasel himself out of the sanctions.
You are very ill informed if you think doing in person scouting is this crazy cheating scandal.

It gave Michigan such a big advantage that after it was found out they went undefeated, won a NC, and has beaten OSU twice since. Almost like that really didn’t matter.

So why did Harbaugh get suspended then.

Because the NCAA was out to get him after his push for revenue sharing for players. Something he’s talked about since 2020.

If you watch the Sign Stealing doc, it’s something everyone does too.

Playing the victim, I watched sign stealer I know everyone does it and I don't like how Harbaugh threw Stallions under the bus.

I'm tired of this subject but at least Dom Amore gets it.

What if he doesn’t change? He wins, plays by the rules, stays out of trouble away from the arena, and he’s still here. UConn can live with the histrionics, one would think.

Alternate access:
In today’s world, best to just let UConn’s Dan Hurley be Dan Hurley

Actually no. This years team fouled more than any other team I can ever remember. Obviously they didn’t get every call right but let’s be honest, mostly they did. We fouled like crazy. It wasn’t the refs imagination.
