If I was a top college team, I would want nothing to do with him. If I was Brad Stevens, I would want nothing to do with college basketball.

The guy has one of the absolute best jobs in basketball and he’s 12 years removed from college basketball…I cannot see him wanting to or being good at kissing the ass of a 17 year old and his agent as they ask for $3M for two semester’s work.

In retrospect, all the No's handed to KY seem reasonable, but at the time it was a shock. That plus their underwhelming seasons has taken the shine off of them for the moment but to me it's still KY and Duke. I still may put KY on top of Duke because it's not even a choice you make if youre from KY. You dont follow KY basktball-It's on your birth certificate.

What is this deity you're talking about, and how does that reflect in the blueblood mythos?

Kentucky has won 3 titles in the past 48 years.

I don't mind Goodman. He can be a troll and say dumb stuff to get reactions. And he asks dumb questions during interviews-he is not good at those at all. However, when it comes to obtaining information from his sources who are close to the players and coaches and then he says he verified the veracity of certain stories, you can take that to the bank-he is very reliable in that regard.

I was at 153 out of 26 million women brackets heading into recent Monday but Iowa and OSU flopped. Am now at 3K.

I think Duke is clearly the top job between the pedestal they get placed on by ESPN where they're treated like the Cowboys/Lakers/LeBron of the sport. Also the USA basketball connections. Just look at how quickly Duke wrestled away the premier 1 and done pipeline designation away from Kentucky when they decided to. I think UNC/UK are close for that #2 job, UNC with the Jordan Brand and the reports I've seen that they (somehow) spent $15m on their team this year, plus all the money they ponied up for Belichick

The fortunate thing for us is that Hurley and more importantly, his wife Andrea, know he belongs in the Northeast. He’s our guy and UConn is his Carolina. He’s a Jersey kid, Big East fan and Seton Hall grad. He’s on top of the world where he is.

The problem UNC has is that there isn’t an appropriate coach for them right now. Golden and Oats would normally be their guys, but they are both sketchy people based on what’s out there. The rest of the prospects are old. They may in fact have to go with someone in the last 5 or so years of their career as a stop gap. The problem is, guys like Donovan and Stevens are always thrown out there and they never, ever bite on these jobs. Soon, Jay Wright will be mentioned too. Not happening.

In terms of job right now, you are right. And I know that this is the topic of the thread so that makes even more sense.

But just for fun: Its close but the way I see it is that KY history and generational fanbase is probably the best in all of college bball. @EnochRoot didn't like my reply, and I see his point too.
But, IMO is see KY more like the Cowboys, or the Packers. Chiefs and Pats have the recent rings but they dont have 8-10 generations of quasi-religious fans. But I am not dumb enough to say KY is hands down #1.

Kentucky can be the best or worst job in college basketball depending on the day. They have 100 donors that think they are the GM. Plus a fan based even more spoiled and arrogant than us.

UNC is not even the best job in the state.

I think there's a reasonable chance that Jacque Vaughn gets the job. He'll certainly be a candidate. Ironically, it's Kansas players who have found success coaching at Carolina.

They are, but I have no issue with them picking UCLA over us. We've been struggling and Mick Cronin knows defense. They probably figured they'd give us SJU type problems. It was as good a guess as any. Hopefully, the midrange game is the proverbial "Rabbit out of a Hat" for us this tournament and we've solved our problems with it.

We are top 10 but I think we are closer to 10 then many of us would care to admit

We got our choice to coach last time it was open. Kentucky did not. UNC may not. That's the only metric that matters

I think we are behind Indiana when considering fan support and resources and mixed in somewhere with Michigan/Zona/UCLA/Mich St. in whatever order you’d like. Edit to add Purdue as well. Would argue all those schools have more resources and half of them bigger fan bases
