How many wins would it take for Connecticut to be in the CFP discussion?

I think you are underestimating us. Not saying we would be selected but a lot would depend on the scenario. If we were 12-0 and, let’s say Syracuse won the ACC or got to their championship game even. We’d absolutely be in the discussion. Maybe even at 11-1 depending on who the 1 loss was. Just to be clear, I don’t expect the Orange to win the ACC nor us to be 12-0. But if we were and they were we’d absolutely be under consideration.
Board says Syracuse only needs 9 wins.....so we're in trouble even with 12 wins.

If we go 12-0 we would get a passing mention from the talking heads and finish top 20.
If we go 12-0 for two straight years, we would start getting buzz. We would not make the playoffs.
If we go 12-0 for three straight years we'd be knocking on the door and there would be outrage from some corners if we didn't get a shot.

This hole we've been trying to dig out of is pretty deep.
The schedule we have in ‘26, if we went undefeated, it might actually cause a small stir if we were left out.. If we did it again with our schedule in ‘27 we’d have a strong case for the playoffs.
