How big would this win be?

Momentum. We had no momentum going into last season, personally I never thought we had a realistic chance to beat Maryland, and after that blowout it felt like the program was still stuck in the mud. Right now it feels like the program is turning a corner and if we pull off the big upset tomorrow, being undefeated going to BC would seem to be doable.

This is it. Winning tomorrow can put us on course for a dream season of sorts. It will also massively extend the time period that we get great press this fall which is huge for our recruiting and realignment hopes.

We had momentum when we beat a ranked Liberty team in 2023, heading into a game vs Army. That wasn't big.

I don't see this as particularly big. If they win out up to BC, then that game is big.

It's not even a big upset. 6.5 point spread. It would be a nice statement though to show we're serious about this football thing.

Do you believe that Syracuse would fire their head coach after losing to us? Ask Charlie Weis how that went.

The Syracuse game tomorrow doesn't even come close to comparing to UConn beating Notre Dame in their house on national tv. I still want to beat the life out of them tomorrow...

When we beat Syracuse on Saturday, would this win be as program defining as the win over Notre Dame in 2009?
This win in no way is program defining. Jim Brown glitter has blown away a long long time ago. Syracuse name means nothing in football. However….

Consistent winning against regional D1 teams should help significantly in attracting NE and NY high school top talent. Toss in competitive games against the likes of Rutgers, Maryland, Penn State, WV etc then that helps significantly. Maybe grab a few more PA and NJ kids.

Doing that would help put fannies in the seats and help offset the lack of conference membership.

One loss at the time we played, they finished with 4 losses but I attribute that to all the rumors swirling around Hugh Freeze leaving them
At the time they were coming in having beaten Arkansas and BYU, I think back to back in the 2 games before ours. Their only loss was by 1 to a not too bad (7-5 type) ACC team. They were a Top 25 team going into the game.

.-.
After Cuse steamrolling us last time, I am going into this game very cautiously optimistic. Their huge OL scares me, mostly because our DL looked so underwhelming against CCSU. Hopefully, we left plenty up our sleeve against Central and Cuse has no idea what we are about to throw at them. However, I'm too beaten and battered emotionally to expect that. I will say, a win in this game will be as big a win for me as we've had since beating highly ranked Houston under Diaco. I really need it.
Worried about their QB transfer ( another good one ) and our potential lack of pass rush. If we do ok there I like our chances. If not. Could be another long day in Canada

Cuse is probably the best team on our schedule and in the upper half of the ACC. It may not compare to Notre Dame, but it can be the marquee win for this year. It also gives us a chance at 13-0, which I don't think is on anyone's radar right now (apart from UConnDan97).

Doesn't the visiting team provide the officiating crew? That has been protocol in the past. If I am correct, who does UConn contract with for officiating...
the ACC

Last year, yes. This year, it’s too early to tell but i really don’t think so. McCord was a dominant QB last year but he's no longer there. Angeli’s unproven at this point and I expect a big drop-off from McCord. The Cuse defense is also not that good.
I think it’ll be a close high scoring game & will come down to the last quarter.

Honestly, I don't know. They're just isn't enough data. I don't know how much we can draw from our CCSC win, or Syracuse's loss to Tennessee. This game will tell us a lot about who we are and who we can be this year.

.-.
Beating an undefeated Houston team at the Rent in 2015 might have cost the Cougars a chance to play for a natty

Perhaps. I do know it cost us a chance to move on from Diaco cheaply.
