Some thoughts on the Houston game:
- Always good to come back right away with a win, any win, after a tough loss. It helps get rid of the bad taste of that loss.
- For the longest time during the 1st qtr, I was wondering if the Huskies would pitch a shutout. I guess the 2 pts allowed is in fact an all-time record for UConn.
- I like that the Huskies came out pressuring the Cougars all over the court. It’s a great way to create transition baskets and jump start an offense that only scored 58 pts the previous game.
- Geno used several different combinations on the floor today, particularly in the 2nd & 4th qtrs. The ultimate goal is for the offense to continue to flow regardless of who’s in the game. The results were mixed today, but the more Geno uses different combinations, presumably the better UConn will execute regardless of who’s in the game.
- Decent bounce back game for Liv. Of course it wasn’t against Baylor, but it’s always good to see a player heading back in the right direction after a tough game.
- It’s awful being injured and unable to play. I really like Evina & Batouly on the bench in warmups, cheering for their teammates, fielding shots during shootaround and otherwise contributing to the team anyway they can.
