Haven't watched them at all, but the level of competition has been pretty poor so far. The KenPom opponent rankings the last 5 games: 344, 350, 159, 338, 174.

They've also had strong starts and poor finishes the last couple of seasons in the AAC, too:

2015: Started 5-1...Final record: 13-19
2014: Started 5-0...Final record: 17-16

But, we'll know more about them after their next two games: #44 URI on the road and #88 LSU at home

Here's hoping for at least one of those non-conference games resulting in a win for Houston.

Always thought Sampson had the potential to turn them into a really good team. They always get athletes and Sampson tends to recruit quite well (legally or illegally).

Sampson's illegalities are misdemeanor infractions compared to the other stuff that goes down in college basketball. He was the biggest screw job the NCAA ever put on a coach this side of Rick Majerus' hamburgers. He violated phone call/text message policies that no longer have relevance in the social media present. Then lied about it. I believe he was also hit for a recruit getting a T shirt and a draw string bag. He was probably torpedo'd by IU's administration via the NCAA as a puppet to get him out of there for free.

Houston scheduling is embarrassing - they've lost the only halfway ambitious game they've played to date.

Samson is a lousy coach. I have no expectations for that team.

Wow Houston home game but it sounds like an LSU crowd.

Their arena is a dopey little band box with that ring around it - as small as it is, the fans are still away from the court.

It's half-empty, but it's not an LSU crowd. I don't think there is a single LSU fan there.

Well, looks like they're going to find a way to beat LSU. That sort of makes up for the loss to URI, but they're just really unimpressive.

There was a ton of booing when Simmons got his 4th

So this is what things have come to: scrambling to be plug in Chromecast to access fuzzy digital picture on SlingTV to watch Houston beat LSU in overtime and hear the Houston announcers describe previous home opponents as "correctional schools."35 points scored in overtime after Ben Simmons has fouled out. AAC, AAC

What the hell goes on in these games? LSU and their "acclaimed" 5 star freshman plus the rest of the starting lineup scored 25 points while their bench had 71.

Keith Hornsby was a starter last year and this was his first game back from injury. Plus Tim Quarterman usually starts and is in my mind a surefire first-rounder this year. There's 59 of your bench points right there.

agreed about the facility but turn up your TV - there is a good sized LSU contingent there and loud
I don't think anyone should get to worked up over UH record - look at schedule and look at next 4-5 games

As awful as their team, attendance, and arena are they still beat us twice in a row down there somehow. It might be the unique atmosphere of playing in a dimly lit basement in front of 78 fans

What a first game it was. He was on fire. Still a lousy game. A buzzer beater I really did not get too excited.

Houston just got their ass kicked at home by something called Grand Canyon.

They're lousy.

It was on a neutral court in Las Vegas. Grand Canyon is a for profit university that is transitioning to DI. Although they are the best team in the WAC, they are ineligible for the NCAA Tournament. They are coached by former NBA player Dan Majerle.
