Honoring our seniors

Does anyone know if UConn+ will stream the ceremony?

The senior day festivities will take place in a postgame ceremony to honor five players. The ceremony will be streamed online on the UConn women's basketball X and Facebook pages, the UConn Huskies YouTube page, and UConn+

Click on the tweet as there are separate pics of all the seniors.

For anyone that doesn't have the X (twitter) app but does have a Facebook account, the pictures are posted on the UConn Women's Basketball page.

Was this the most injured class in the history of Uconn?

I can't think of another class that missed so many games because of injuries.

It's a shame because there was so much potential in all of them.. Azzi is really the only one who salvaged her career..

I remember Caroline starting and playing awesome as a freshman.

Personally, I believe this group of Uconn Husky players are the walking endorsement of the BEST that America produces to represent the United States. Diversified, Talented and Dedicated to their Team, to their Coaches and to their School. To the players leaving, the best of every thing you do, to the ones staying, WELCOME BACK! GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!

I remember the moments of UConn being down to only a handful of players and Caroline on the floor playing lights out and carrying the team to victory.

I am so glad Azzi was able to come back and have some outstanding years of success on the floor at UConn. And I hope Caroline is able to find that success post-graduation, too, whether it be in coaching or otherwise. I always feel awful for players in any sport when their college careers are ended by injury.

I have always been proud that as a UConn fan, I was following quality individuals that I would want as a friend, neightbor, or business associate.
As my husband says, you're such a homer, and yes, I am, however I do believe that the journey that these seniors have experienced, will provide them with a roadmap for life. Success, setbacks, recover, loyalty, friendship. It's all in there. Most if not all of them have lived a wide gamut of experiences that will serve them well.

I'm assuming FS1 won't stick around to show the ceremony after the game. Will in be on FB or UConn+?

Happy and sad for all the seniors. Happy that they stayed with the program. Many could have left and went to different places for a host of reasons, but they stayed and that says a lot about them and what they value and what the program meant to them. I am especially going to miss Caroline the most. Those us that can remember yesterday, knows that Caroline's journey was not smooth, especially her first year. I still remember her first game against Arkansas in the Bahama Tournament. So much anticipation. Caroline gets into the game, turnover and she is done for the rest of the game. 3-4 minutes. That night. No worries. We got Minnesota the next game. She got 12 minutes out there and we saw what could be but not enough to get consistent minutes. South Florida-Nothing. South Carolina-We knew she wasn't going to play in that game. Seton Hall-Nothing. Then we play our hated rival (my personal rival) Notre Dame and we got to see Caroline unleashed. Injuries forced Coach G's hand, and he had to play Caroline and she showed out!! 14 minutes. 14 points/3boards/1 block/2 turnovers. Then we move on to her starting against UCLA and Caroline did not disappoint.

I say all of that because Caroline could have left. Like some did because of whatever reason. She stayed. She embraced her role on the team no matter what it was, bench or starting. CD embraced her role and stayed at UConn. She took playing 2 minutes, make a mistake and not get back into the game. Not many would put up with that, but Caroline stayed and that just made me root for her even more. Then you throw in her back luck with injuries and how she battled through all of that, she stayed. She is going to me do the ugly cry face the most. Love all of these young ladies like they were my kids. I wish them all the best going forward. Congrats, Seniors!!

Yeah, FS1 won't show the ceremony but I am pretty sure UConn+ will show the ceremony. Even FB or one of the other social media platforms out there.

I for one hope that Ayanna decides to return to the team come November. The team needs an experienced post player and that is her. Yes we have Olivia coming in and possibly Okeke if she decides on college in Storrs. It really stinks to loose two Top 10 recruits to injury. Sadly it can and does happen. A line that I remember from Ayanna she said that you may not know who I am but you will by the time that I leave. That may not be word for word but it is close. This young lady can jump. She can rebound. From what others have said that she is a great teammate. Who doesn’t want a player like that on your team.

I'm not sure of the exact number, but it seems as if Azzi, Carol, Ayanna, and Ice have missed almost half of their games combined.
I remember the Svetlana and Shea years when they were always injured.

Losing them actually cost us championships. Both were very gifted basketball players when they weren't hurt.....

But I can't recall a more injured class than this years... I am starting to wonder about how athletes train themselves or how their "trainers" train them. Not just in women's basketball but in all sports...

As a Yankee fan, we have had a million injuries to our players over the past few years....

I just wonder if people are getting improper training compared to past generations.

Blanca actually reminds me of Svetlana a lot. Btw.
