Reminder for those so inclined: Ultimate Tailgate Challenge for UMass:

Calling @coachcap et al:

>>When UConn Football returns home for their October 27th matchup vs. UMass, fans will not only be celebrating Homecoming, but will be encouraged to participate in the all-new Ultimate Tailgate Challenge.

This addition to the UConn Football promotional schedule will allow UConn fans to show off their tailgating skills in the parking lots at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. Tailgates will be judged on menu (20%), tasting (40%), presentation (20%), and overall UConn pride (20%). With the outstanding tailgate scene at all UConn Football home games, this challenge will help identify the best tailgate of 2018. Judges are being identified and will be announced at a later date.

The Ultimate Tailgate Challenge Champion will be presented the UConn Tailgate Championship Belt during an in-game, on-field presentation. Additionally, the winning tailgate will receive a $200 gift card to P.C. Richard & Sons. Fans that register to enter will be emailed with more information during the week of the UMass game. <<

To enter the competition, please fill out the form below.

UMass is UConn's third most played opponent with 72 games (34-36-2). The Huskies have only played URI (95) and Maine (74) more times.

Can the ConFLiCT trophy be repurposed for the Yankee Conference Championship? On second thought it would be too humiliating if UMass were to win and leave it on the bench.

Here's an interesting bit of trivia. The 1963 UMass team gave up a total of 1 TD and 12 points all season long. Maine scored the TD and UConn managed a field goal. They shut out everybody else except UNH who scored a safety. Of course this has nothing to do with the game on Saturday but the defensive metrics are still mind numbing, especially in view of our current historic feats in the other direction.

I actually think some of our defensive statistics are pretty mind numbing as well................in the other direction unfortunately.

So 2 - 6 UMass which has allowed more than 55 points 5 of 8 games is favored on the road? Are they baiting us?

well, back in August I remarked that as long as we beat URI and UMASS the season and the entire program in general wouldn't be a complete [REDACTED] mess. So, it's that time. Game will probably be played in front of 1990-1994 size crowd, but maybe more will show.

I have a source who says there is a developing chance for a possible snow dusting lol

Yeah, there is a possibility of a nor-easter for Sunday. Not sure it gets here in time to disrupt the game Saturday. The nor-easter looks more like only snow for VT at this point, we shall see....

The mythical Yankee Conference championship will be on the line.
I say this because margin of victory is the tiebreaker in the Mythical Yankee Conference Championship. UNH is terrible this year and Maine beat URI by only 2 whereas UConn beat URI by a QB sack on the last play. Something like 7, right? I have forgotten the score. Repurposing the ConFLiCT Trophy sounds like an excellent idea. Can we get Bobby Red Pants to make the award presentation? Maybe the teams could sing their alma maters after the presentation. Helmets held high and all that, UMass in the northwest visitors' corner and UConn in the southeast next to the band and students section, the latter of which might have one or two students left at the end. This game will be very significant. It is gonna do some real damage to the hopes and aspirations for a Futile Four appearance for one team.
